Im starting to not care about school

yeah, for some reason, im just not caring about studying in school and stuff. Ive been thinking "as long as im a faithful servant to God and is saved and spread the news to other" then life is meaningless. I mean, okay not meaningless. But do i HAVE to go a IVY league school? Do i HAVE to become some sort of doctor or have some white-collared job? Are they essential to the Christian faith? NO! So why do it? I mean, of course God is giving me the opportunity to have a good job, and live well. But im just not caring for some reason.

No, you don't have to go to a school like that. You don't have to go to become a doctor or a lawyer. But do you want to limit yourself? Suppose God wants you to become a doctor and go into missions medicine. It's possible.

I don't mean to lecture you, and I understand what you mean. I'm taking a foreign language right now, and I HATE it! I simply don't understand why I have to know French but I'm still working my butt off to get an "A". Why? Becuase right now, God gave me the opportunity to get an education. We're all told to do all things "to the glory of God." Being a student is a job that God has given me. I want to do all things well in his sight-- if it's possible. I'm not saying I always do it, or that I don't complain about it sometimes (which I shouldn't *sigh). There's my one cent.

ah, that is right. God has given us a chance for an education. Most people blow off education like its unwanted. But many in the world are begging for an education

All I have to say is that everything worth while in life is worth working for. You must be mistaken if you assume God will provide everything w/o you giving effort. If you don't use the gifts God gives you, then you loose them. Anyone can give up and not care because everything seems to be taken care of. But in the real world, where you need to get a job and mommy and daddy don't pay for everything... then you may see different.
Sure, you may not need/want to goto college and that's fine. But like I've said, just because you believe in God doesn't mean everything will be handed to you on a silver platter. And I'm not only talking about school, but life in general. You work for what you get.

It's okay to feel burnt out in school because we all feel that way at times. But i would advice you not to take that approach in life-- just not caring. School isn't for everyone, but the we need to hold on to the lessons we learn in life.

Lack of interest in school seems to be a rather common affliction; grade school is often less than exciting, so your lack of enthusiasm is understandable. For a word of encouragement, I commend to you 1 Corinthians 10:31.

While it isn't necessary, a good education can be very helpful to being a good Christian, especially in the area of evangelization. That doesn't necessarily mean white collar job though. I have known plenty of very well educated blue collar workers and homeless. I'll admit to a fair amount of apathy towards some classes in high school, but if you want to be taken seriously in an adult conversation, I recommend paying attention to english, history, and science.

Psh, it's an old semester has just ended; feeling burned out is far from abnormal. I've found that just keeping on despite the fact that I really don't want to works best, even if it's not the most pleasant thing.

Hey I know this feeling! I have it every semester (almost halfway through). Namely because I work my head off to please nasty teachers spend every hour of my week working (except one hour on Sunday and time to eat and sleep) and get such lovely grades as B-, B, B- and C! But yes you are correct, God will love you no matter whether you do well in college or don't even go to college. But, before you jump off yet, consider your dreams and goals. What would a past version of you say to yourself now if you were to tell them that you were going to quit. After all, you're so close to becoming far more influential in changing this world then you could ever have dreamed. Forget money, as I have long ago thought about its worth and you can look at Ecclesiastes for my opinion on it. But instead consider purpose, with the knowlege you are about to take, you will gain access to the ability to change the world and not merely be affected by its demands. I too share in the pains of lack of time and the agony of dissapointment given by teachers, but have faith my freind, for along with these dissapointments I have also seen things that my teachers could only wish to see. Don't worry about grades as much as the knowlege. For someone else's opinion of what you know is not as true as what knowlege you truely know. By the way, it seems to me that your tired and could use a little rest (me too!) so you may consider finding some time to just relax even though it may cost you some grade points. After all you'll do worse over all if your spiritually, mentally and phsychologically dead. I find listening to some good music while studying also helps to keep me a little happier when I study so if you can do that and study it may help. Got K-LOVE? By the way before anybody counts themselves out of what I said above about our ability to change the world I would suggest we consider this... We, as christians personally know the God of the universe, the great I AM. So before you think anything impossible remember, all things are possible through the Lord our God.

Also, by no means do I mean for this to come out the way it did-- hard or insensitive. It's just when I see people say, "I just don't care," or "why should I care or try?" It really makes me want to just say that things don't always happen as perfect as we imagine. Just because we decide school isn't for us doesn't mean we should stop learning about the world around us.

I have the potential to become an Radiologist. My friends were trying to make me do it but I didn't. They kept telling me they make at least 100,000 a year. But I found that even though I do have the ability to do it, it just wasn't right for me. Just like additional schooling (college) isn't for everyone either.

Life is full of experinces and we grow from them. Life is much like a boat and water. Without water, the boat is unable to move. Just like the boat, in life we need knowledge to move along.

SOrry if you feel it's way off topic. I just wanted to say once you start slacking in one thing, it's easy to start slacking in others. Also, that just because you spread the gospel doesn't mean God will treat you any better. God has a special place close to his heart for everyone. Misfortune may happen with or without school, but it's our attitude we take along with us that counts. LIke I've said, the things in life worth having are the things we fight and work hard for. This is the only way we can form appreciation for things.

I'm not saying you have to do great in school or you have to goto college. Just don't underestimate or limit yourself in life.

First off, Ivy League schools are over-rated. Most state-sponsored schools will give you a good education, Ivy league is just about prestige. But, more to the point...

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather then for men knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. (Colossians 3:23-24).

I know you're just kind of letting off steam, but you bring up an interesting question - What do you have to do to follow God's calling?

Do you have to be a doctor? No, certainly not. Blue collar workers bring glory to the Lord everyday by tightening three bolts every forty seconds all day long. You bring glory to God not by what you do but how you do it. However, if God has blessed you with abilities to go far beyond this simple, but honorable lifestyle, you do not honor Him by wasting those talents.

Not everyone has the talent to be a doctor. They may lack the ability to understand and piece together the medical concepts they need to make a proper diagnosis. Or perhaps they do not have the right personality to have an effective bedside manner. However, if you have all of the right characteristics to be a doctor you should not permit a lack of motivation to stop you.

God gave me the talent and desire to be more than just a blue collar worker. This does not make me superior to blue collars nor does it make me a better servant to God. On the contrary, it gives me greater responsibility. Responsibility to use the abilities to get a college degree and take a white collar job because I am well suited to it and He desires faithful servants at every level and job classification.

I do not know what God's plan for you is. He will use you wherever you decide to go and in whatever you decide to do. I know your desire to serve Him will get you through this funk you're in and you will use the talents God has blessed you with to their fullest.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but it's very helpful in witnessing to have a good education because Christians are so often labeled as close-minded and ignorant. If you have a good education they can't say you're ignorant and write off what you have to say using that lame old excuse.

i know how you feel, it was how i felt through a good part of high school, until i got things, mainly my priorities, figured out. i was striving to do the best (and i literally mean the best, A's all the way) and everyone around me was pushing me to as well, especially my mother. the best thing that could have happened did - i got a B in a class, and decided that i wasn't going to let grades be my whole life, in 10 years they wouldn't matter, and most colleges took grading scales into consideration (it didn't help that the lowest you could get and still have an A was a 94% at my high school) and cared more about other things than GPA's.

from there, i decided to relax, and make it more about getting there than the actual grade, and while i may not have done as well as i did while i was pushing myself, i was SO much happier, tons less stressed, and actually began enjoying school again.

and like was said earlier, ivy league schools are highly over-rated. look at what your interests and talents are, how YOU can best serve God, not how others think you can, or should. look into schools that meet your needs and wants - location (how near or far from home a school is can be pretty important to some people), expense, whether what you are interested in for a major is offered, and so on. and while it's never a bad idea to start looking for a college early, don't become consumed by it. God will reveal His plan for you, even if you can't tell that He did, pray about your plans for the future, and compare what your intentions with what is said in the Bible.
