best anime/manga buys

Postby Tenshi no Ai » Sat Jan 08, 2005 3:57 pm

Ever bought some anime that was almost dirt cheap that it made you say "I made an amazing purchase today!" I just made a good one. (Gotta realize it's in CDN funds, so stuff is slighter more than US.)

I heard my friend buy the first 4 volumes of the Sailor Moon manga (Japanese) for only $3 each and I was so surprised! Somethign so rare for a cheap price...

Now in my video store they have a bit of an aniem section and I discovered one day that the .hacks were gone (first 4 volumes). Today I found them all in the sales bin for $9.99 each! Regular price for ONE in this country is around $45 I believe... then I foudn out they were actually 2 for $15 so they were all purchased for about $36! Best anime buy EVER in my books!

...ever got a deal that was almost too good to be true?

I got the first volume of Princess Nine for 5 bucks. That was a pretty good deal. And, um-- oh yeah! I got the first four volume of Miracle Girl for $15. I'd say those are probably the highlight.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I got Rurouni Kenshin manga for $8.51, but that's normal with Shonen Jump stuff. I also found one of those Ruroken DVDs for only twelve bucks. Normally it's twice that where I am.

Like Mangafanatic, the first volume of Princess nine was also a good buy for me-- about $9. Not too shabby.

Wal-Mart has been starting to sell the Ruroken series DVDs around here for about $13 each. They're up to Shadow Elite and False Prophet, but they haven't changed sice SEPT! ARG! I want Flames of the Revolution (which would be one of the next two they'd be putting out)!

$15 for Cowboy Bebop's Best Collection from WalMart. Usually I don't shop the evil empire, but this was worth it. ^^;

And I'm glad I got a second copy of Matantei Loki volume 4, 'cause they had extra pictures of Heimdall in the Blade Comic version. >D

Mine was probably a volume of Sailor Moon SuperS at Wal-Mart that was selling for around $7.

Of course, Right Stuf is the best store for getting great box set buys on a regular basis!

Buy one get one free manga at my local comic store...got Immortal Rain vols. 3-4 there.

$100 flat for Witch Hunter Robin Complete dvd collection...with the little collector pins (with Amon! Yay!)

Ghost in the Shell SAC dvds for 20 bucks each at Kmart. I like Kmart. They sell Ghost in the Shell. 20 bucks for any anime dvd for me is cheap. Most of the time they're at least $25 or else they're crap
