Why do we have dreams?

I've actually had a dream that almost came true. in this dream, my boyfriend and I were...somewhere. I remember flourescent lighting, and that's it. anyway. one of my old friends that I hadn't seen in six months showed up. but I didn't recognize her because she was so different. after she talked to me I suddenly realized who she was. then later in the dream I was reading her online journal or something like that and thinking, "wow she's changed so much."

well, a month later, yesterday, she calls my house. we get together and I find out that she is very different, that I don't really know her anymore. she used to be Christian. now she's pagan and believes all kinds of lies. and then she gave me a link to the online journal that I didn't know she even had.

very strange.

Most of my dreams are, oddly, not what I was thinking about or even stressing about just before I went to sleep, but things that have been in my subconscious recently. Sometimes I'll dream about things I hadn't realized were bothering me, or it'll just be a collage of random influences.

Sometimes they're just crazy. I got to run around a battered city with Mana last night... <.< >.>

I've had a lot of dreams come true ever since I became a Christian. It also depends whether I remember them or not.. lately I've been getting them recalled like before. There was one time which was really spiritual, I've been attacked and by saying "In Jesus Name" I woke up from it.. That was my strangest dream so far. The reason was I prayed for a friend, cause he was chatting with a witch, afterwards I took a nap and got that dream. Later I found out I could have been killed for real by such an attack.

Prophetic/God Given Dreams: These definately exist, and God will use these types of dreams as a way of speaking to us: In the Bible, God very commonly spoke to people through visions and dreams. Jacob, Joseph, ect. He can also use such dreams to bring comfort.

Example: My Grandfather died around Christmas time a few years ago, and it really was a blow to my father. And trust me, we're talking about one of the sweetest, kindest, most commited to God people who ever existed. So his death was a major loss to everyone.

A couple of months later, Dad had a dream: In this dream, he was walking through the house, when Granfather appeared in front of him. (He was a lot younger, the way he used to look about 30 or so years ago). He waved his hand and said, "Just don't ask any questions. Everything is going to be fine." Then he walked off, and Dad woke up. Later, he found out that his mother and brother had exact similar dreams on the same night.

God given dreams are real, and they can be some of the best dreams you will ever have.

Nightmares: These can be caused by two different factors: they can be directly given by Satan, or they could be your fault. For instance, I almost never have nightmares, but if I do, it's almost always a zombie dream. (I'm a big Resident Evil fan.)

Nightmares can be given by Satan as well. A co-worker and good Christian friend of mine woke up after am series of disturbing nightmares one night. She could sense a very ominous, dark presence about her at the same time. She immediately started rebuking Satan, and the feeling left her, and she didn't have any more nightmares.

Lucid: I've had these before and they are so awesome! Trust me, if you ever get one, TAKE FULL ADVANTAGE OF IT! Not quite sure how these happen.

I was going to post a familiar thread.

I had a dream last night where I asked a girl to marry me and she said yes. And as I recall the joy the dream brought me wen I woke, I remmebered who the girl was. One of my best friends girlfriend o_0 I was confused bu for some odd reason I enjoyed the dream...proably cause I have never had a girlfriend before.

I had another dream where our toy poodle died and her head fell off. Than my dad took th ebody and made Smudgie Stew (her name is Smudge). I then wok e up and smelt something good, I went to the kitchen and asked what my dad was making. he said "dinner". So I replied "What's for dinner". My dad than looked at me with deranged eyes and yelled "SMUDGIE STEW!!!" and let out ahorrendous, scary laughter. i then really woke up.

About a year ago, I had a dream one of my best friends and his girl friend (oh BTW most of my best guy friends are either married, engaged, or have a girlfriend) was married and had a baby. That was a fun dream so I then woke up. Later that night I went to the Zoo with the youthgroup (my local zoo does a huge million light Christmas festival) and I hung around thetwo. This is the same girlfriend whom in my dream last night, I married.

Last but defiently not least that shows that I think, God willing, dreams do come true. I was standing on a rooftop admist the city. Looking around, it all seemed peaceful. Until I heard a loud crash behind m and then a second. I looked and I saw two towers on fire and they were falling. Belo wpeople were dying and smoke, blood, and destruction was everywhere. I woke up horrified. I had that dream September 10th 2002, a day before 9/11

I've had dreams that came true before, sorta. I know a lot of people who had dreams similar to yours on, or the day before Sept. 11.

I also know how it is, when you have a dream that makes you feel all good inside, and them you wake up, and realize that it was just a dream...*sigh* But it still makes me feel all warm and fuzzy

Did you know that you dream, like about 10 dreams each night, you only remember the one right before you wake up? Sometimes I'll wake up in the middle of a really cool dream where I'm like, with this girl I like or am having a ot of fun doing something, then I'll wake up, but usually, If I go back to sleep right away, I can continue the dream.

Dreams are wild, and an awesome creation of God.

I remember most of my dreams. Heck, I remember one when I was like 6 when some Grinches (from How the Grinch Stole Christmas - cartoon version-) came and attacked my house.

lol...I remember this dream from when I was about 4 where this VW Bug with only two wheels was trying to run me down. Most freakin scary thing ever.
Gives me shivers. Course, I was only 4.

I also remember this dream where I was a fish trying to shut down a power plant that was poluting the water. Talk about weird!

Maybe, but I did have a dream in which I fell of a cliff, hit the ground and felt the pain, to the core of my bones. It was very strange.

there was a reference to dreams in a louis sachar book. IT said good dreams are bad, and bad dreams are good. Because when you wake up from a good dream, you go like "oh darn, it wa sonly a good dream" but when you wake up from a bad dream, you go like "phew, it was only a dream!"

I cannot say how true that is. I feel exactly that way about dreams. I hardly like dreaming about good things because then I just wake up and am dissapointed.

i have, and have longer than i can remember, horrible nightmares. my parents always tell me about how for YEARS as a child i would wake up almost every single night screaming for them, and one of my earliest memories about my dreams involves me waking up, or dreaming i woke up, and seeing my wall (the paneling in my room was that fake wood paneling stuff) absolutely crawling with snakes.

i usually dream in color, but the most aweful nightmares i have had have been in sepia-like tones, all one color with shades of grey and black, one of the most recent involved my dad and some man i didn't know bleeding to death in my family's living room, after being gored by bulls, and it was in red and black.

i have had very few dreams, i can probably count the pleasant, or stereo-typical dreams (by this, i mean, forgetting homework, etc.) on my fingers.

i also have lucid dreams quite frequently. i remember once, having a nightmare that turned into a lucid dream, and 'hearing' a voice tell me something along the lines, when i thought i had woken up and was falling back asleep, "you can control the dream," and the dream turned lucid after that. but for some reason, the voice was more frightening than the dream itself.

my nightmares are usually about pretty stupid sounding things when i remember them, like a virus that turns people into fuzzy, evil, purple monsters that is spread by toilet paper..., but they are absolutely terrifying while they are going on, .

oh my gosh. Lucid dreams are so awesome! Ive had a few (maybe twice) and they are very fun indeed

yeah, they are pretty bad, but the good thing is that i hardly ever have real bad ones, just wierd ones, at college. and i do have to agree, lucid dreams can be pretty darn cool sometimes.

I have also had few lucid dreams. ^___^ I have read that if you write the dreams down (or tell them someone etc.) after you have woken up, like every day, then you will have lucid dreams more frequently.

I don't have nightmares often. Maybe it's because i pray every night not to have them.
