Great. Little sister's a yaoi/yuri fan.

Talk about anything in here.

Well, if she's WRITING hentai now, it's safe to say she's already viewing it on a regular basis, and likely for a long time.

And hentai addiction is not typically easy to break. A filter will help some, but they are not foolproof, there will allways be loopholes that can be found with enough determination. Filters are only most effective for people who have either never viewed porn and are trying to avoid contact, or those who have broken the addiction and are trying to avoid contact so temptation will not flare up again.

But for the person who is already an addict, the filter is just a barrier adding increased difficulty, and most likely, in time, loopholes will be found.

Prayer AND unconditional love towards the person are really the only effective weapons to combat something like this. And in response to an earlier comment that hentai was worse than yaoi, I disagree. I've always considered them on equal levels. Both are condemned in the Bible to the same degree, and both are wrong. In addition to yaoi being a stepping stone to hentai, about 60% of yaoi is pornographic anyways. Either soft-core, or explicit.

However, you should defintately take action on your part, so hopefully she doesn't fall into even more lower levels of the addiction.

I think we would need to draw a difference here -- it sounds more like Kat is talking about her writing lemon stories?

But if she's writing lemons, doesn't that mean she is already into stuff beyond "normal" yaoi?

By 'normal' yaoi do you mean shonen-ai? I've heard that's like the 'soft' verson of yaoi.

Right. Although "shonen-ai" and "yaoi" are used interchangebly.

In either case, she definitely needs to stay away from that, no question.

Let's not turn this into a discussion on whether yaoi or even shoonen-ai is considered acceptable. In the opinion of the administration here, both approve of homosexuality, and that's a lifestyle not compatible with the Bible; therefore, yaoi and shoonen-ai are similarly immoral. To those that believe otherwise, bluntly, keep those opinions to yourselves, because it will not be accepted here (and we will back this up with administrative penalties -- you'd be better off not finding out).

Back on topic, folks.

You did well not to involve your parents from the start, unless you wanted your sister to think of you for the rest of your life as a tattle-tale. But obviously things have gotten serious. You'll have to use your good judgement in this situation. Your suggestion of talking it over with her over ice-cream is a good idea and let us know if it worked out.

Off course, we'll all be praying for you! :)

Wow it must be hard to find a way to talk to her about that sort of thing. I know I would struggle with that if the same thing happened to my little sister because I'm especially shy and I don't like offending people or making them feel bad. Ice-cream seems like a good idea, but as a girl of the same age, I can almost say she'll get very defensive when you bring it up, so get ready. She'll also probably be annoyed (you know, the whole older sister is bossing me around thing >.> I'm an older sister so I wouldn't know exactly but yeah w/e)

Good luck! I'll be praying for you and your sister. Maybe so good advice is to pray in your mind throughout your conversation. He'll give you strength

Oh and also examine your own life proabably. Don't want to point out the speck in her eye if you have a log in yours (not saying you do ^^) I'll be praying for you both *writes you down in my little notebook so I don't forget*

Ahh, I went through this for a little bit. But I quickly figured out my fault. I just felt myself numbing to the guilt and I felt myself purposefully clicking on pics or links. bleeeh. But I thank God it's over, I just finally noticed and pulled out immediatly. I actually didn't let myself on google for an entire week.

Yeah, getting parents involved may be something to do in the furture. Here are some verses you may want to keep close when ever the opportunity to talk to her more comes up.

Romans 1:24-27
Leviticus 18:22
Leviticus 20:13
1Kings 14:24

Thats all I could find at the moment. I will be praying for you and your sister.

I think that's an awesome idea. As much as you'd want to, this really isn't an area where you can go on the offense. You have a unique position as the older sister, and I'm glad that you understand that you always try to communicate that you love them, and then tell them that you think they're doing something wrong. They really respect that, and even if you don't get the responce you want, it will be more effective and thought-provoking rather than if you just went for the throat.

Maybe I missed this and If I did sorry.. but....

is your sister Christian? A real one that actually attends church and does religious things.

If not, you can throw as many bible verses as you want at her and it won't effect her very much. You need to find another way to get through to her if she's not a Christian.

Kat:

I would take her to a gay-pride parade. It is probably the most effective form of anti-gay propaganda out there. Quite ironic that the most convincing reasons to hate homosexuality are given and broadcast by homosexuals themselves. Although it doesn't truly reflect gay people as a whole, it may be what's necessary to condition your sister into hating homosexuality. Understanding homosexuality and being able to feel compassion for their doomed condition can come later, but for now if you need to get your sister to feel nothing but revulsion at the thought of homosexual acts, this is what I would recommend as a starting point.

I dont think 'throwing Bible verses' at people will help much... seems like 'Bible bashing'. I think that the icecream idea is a really good one, as it is a personal touch and also makes the situation a little bit more comfortable. I think that it will help the sister to be more receptive than just saying "your wrong, change your view, you aren't a proper Christian".

Yeah, using Bible verses are either extremely affective or extremely not affective, most of the time, (from my experiance). But it never hurts to have a couple in your pocket for such occasions. And I know this has been said before but the ice cream idea is great (yummy ^_^) And, as always, pray your heart out! It does wonders. ;)

That's a great idea. Why don't you just have her start hating black people too? Then she can join the KKK.

Sorry, getting her to hate gay people is not a good idea. Hate gives rise to violence. It would be stupid to think that making her hate gay people now would be easily reversible later in her life.

Also, taking her to a gay pride parade could also backfire completely and get her more into it. It's possible to go either way.

I think you guys missed Chichiri's point--he said NOT to throw a bunch of verses at her, and that to do so would be ineffective.

Exactly. Thank you, Ashley.

edit: hating homosexuality will inevitably lead to hating gay people as well. Even though you didn't say "hating gay people", you might as well have.

That wasn't what he meant... you aren't meant to hate people, but their sin. Homosexuality is a sin...

Anyway, it seems we are getting a bit off topic. I think everyone has given their advice, so now shall we stick to prayer until another update happens?

Writing hentai? Oh man...Like someone already mentioned, it's most likely that your sister has been into pornography/yaoi way longer than you think. It's as if the trash starts to accumulate in one's mind at first but no one suspects it. Long before you know it, it overflows and out it comes as expressions of oneself, whether it's from writing, drawing or even acting it out.

Now, when do parents get involved? Speaking from experience, my parents stumbled upon the offensive material and merely confiscated it. Strangely, not a single word was said about it, but it was enough to make one super ashamed. In such a case, it greatly helped to curb the habit. I don't know whether it may work for your sister. Just wanted to share such an experience.

Yes, i edited my post. But if you tell someone to hate homosexuality, they're most likely going to end up hating homosexuals too.

Take a look at the whole Muslim/Islam vs Judiasm fight. Islams kill Jewish people BECAUSE of their religion and what they practice, not because of the people. Is this an extreme case? Yes, but that doesn't mean that it wouldn't happen.

Um...I don't think he meant hating homosexuals...he wrote homosexuality. That would be like saying I hate rape. I think its a vile thing. Love the sinner hate the sin.

Maybe, but that's you. If her sister is not a Christian, she probably would not think like that. Also, her mind is younger and less mature. So on her own, I don't think she'd rationalize it like that as in general, most people don't. People hate rape AND the rapists.

Hmm... a good idea, but no guarantee. It may be best to leave parent's out for now, (only as an extreme last resort) unless, of course, they stumble onto it themselves like it was just mentioned. Forgive me if this was stated earlier, but how many computers do you have in use in your house, Kat?

According to your arguement then, your just as wrong as I am. Your not in there head. People deal with things differently based on there level of faith yes. But what I said is Biblical. If you have a problem with the idea of love the sinner hate the sin...take it up with God.

Do note it was Christ himself who asked us to love the sinner and hate the sin (see John 8:11).

my whole argument stems from the question if she is Christian or not. If she is Christian, then I agree and she can probably see it that way.

Otherwise, the "hate the sin and love thy sinner" might not work if shes a non believer.

How am I wrong? As I have been saying from the beginning, most of my statements only work if she is not Christian..

Yes, people do base things differently. I never once said "she's going to think like that.". I always used words like "probably, maybe, might, etc".
