Yes, the Christmas list for CLAMP characters.

I think I'd like to give Chi from Chobits some good children's books. The ones she read about finding the one that was for her and only her were kind of creepy. Some good Dr. Suess is in order, here.

*comes kicking and screaming into thread*

RANDOM QUESTION ALERT!!!!

*unfolds piece of paper and reads*

Just how violent is X? Is there any other objectionable content in this manga? Is a tomatoe a fruit or a vegetable?

Thank for your time. You may now return to your lives citizens. (It was funny, I didn't eve know I had 2 posts in this thread until I looked back at your tally. I need to read more Clamp manga and become a haunter here as well. Perhaps I shall ask for some CCS for Christmas. Hmmmm. . .)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Welcome back, Kisa. It's been a while.

Mangafanatic wrote:*comes kicking and screaming into thread*

Is a tomatoe a fruit or a vegetable?

I've never read X (some CLAMP club we are, eh?), but the tomato question is ambiguous at best. The simplest, and most correct answer to the question is "yes."

In one respect, it's rather like asking if a badger is a mammal or an animal since the term vegetable can refer to the whole of the plant kingdom as in the question of whether something is animal, vegetable, or mineral.

More commonly, though, I suppose it best to say that vegetable is a catch all for anything edible that doesn’t fit into any of our other common terms for edible plants – fruits (apples), nuts (walnuts), herbs (nutmeg), spices (pepper), or grain (wheat). Tuber is another term for an edible part of a plant, but it is not in common usage, so tubers (potatoes) are vegetables as well as other roots (carrots), stems (asparagus), and leaves (lettuce).

However, non-sweet fruits (beans), fleshy grain(corn), and seeds that are easily softened in water (peas) are often also considered vegetables.

Now, what is a tomato? It’s a plant from the nightshade family, which also includes potatoes and eggplant as well as the poisonous belladonna, better known as deadly nightshade. So, the tomato is in a family of vegetables, but it is the seed bearing meat of a flowering plant.

You should no by now, Osaka, that there are no easy answers, but I hope I have helped you along on your search for truth.

I have the X manga at my house. (I'm not there at the moment. lol) I'll answer your question, Osaka, as soon as I get home and get ahold of them. ^_^

The X manga is pretty violent and gory, although it's nothing like Battle Royale or some other series. As for other objectionable content, there is some nudity in a few volumes. Volume 6 probably has the most.

All righty, to answer your question, Osaka:

Violent and bloody big yes.

Nudity: Vol. 3 on the cover and a few spots mixed in (everything covered, but...yeah) Vol. 5 has a little. Vol 6 has a little and Vol 7 has a little. I only have up til 9, so that's the best I can give ya.

^_^ Just basically an echo of what Rocketshipper said.

Oh, thank you all, especially Spirit_Wolf. I appreciate your help emmensely.

And for anyone interested, I have consulted a biology book, and a Tomatoe is a fruits (a fruits is pretty much any part of a plant that's not vegetative-- a.k.a the roots stems and leaves). More specifically, a tomatoe is a berry. Yeah, I'll just leave before that one blows your brains apart.

Hi Osaka, I see you have finally made it to the CLAMP fan club. *stomps foot* it's about time. ;)

Great Christmas list, Spiritsword. ^___^ I'm having trouble enough with choosing gifts for real, live characters. -__-);;\ *heh*

I probably won't be on much again until after Christmas. I hope you all have a blessed Christmas and wonderful New Year, if I don't see you on this thread until then. :jump:

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Oh, I got one CLAMP thing for Christmas, well actually, it was for my birthday and it was a CCS artbook. Chibs gave it to me and its in Japanese. Its got every one of her outfits though, which is really cute.

It sounds like you all had a good Christmas. Have you watched the Sealed Card yet, Kisa? I enjoyed it more than the first movie.

Yes I did watch it! I did like it better than the first movie as well! It was very good and I loved that there was more character development. It was cool.
I just didn't like that everytime there was a song they put auto subtitling in. It was distracting! LOL

I just got XXXholic with christmas money ^______^ I really enjoyed it. Yuko has some pretty cool clothes in this and the art is very interesting. The character appearances/references from CCS/Tsubasa, Legal Drug, X, and MKRayearth/Tsubasa (again...strange crossover happening between these 3+ series) O.o;;.

BTW the Tsubasa/Card Captor Sakura relation is confusing...anyone care to explain what happens there?

Tsubasa has pretty much all the same main characters as CCS but in a different dimension I guess. They are older and of course not Cardcaptors. Anyone else care to chime in?

Uh...yeah, Kisa pretty much nailed it on the head.

Tsubasa is kinda like a huge combination of CLAMP's work, and it's not the same characters, though they share traits and appearance. It has Chii from Chobits, for example, but she's not a persocom (her ears are fuzzy ^^). Mokona, of course...and some other series I'm not familiar with. It does crooss over into XXXholic, but I think those are the only two manga with a converging storyline...there's a third one?

I'm five DVDs away from the end of the third season of CCS...I think it's going to be interesting to find out what's up with Eriol and the other two (last episode I saw was the one where...er, I'll put it in a box)
Spinel stated that Eriol is "the one who was Clow Reed in a previous life." Though, I kinda suspected that after Sakura met Clow after she beat Yue and he said, "I'm going to be making things tough on you, it seems," which seems to support Spinel's claim...interesting.
I need to start watching it again! ><

I don't like the new theme song "Platinum" as much as the second season's though ("Open the Door," or something like that? Can't remember...). "Fruits Candy" is also nowhere near as good as "Honey" or "Groovy."

I was SO sad when they took out the "Leave it to Kero-chan" segments! :waah!:

I had a great time in the sunny, warm, FL Keys!!! ~__~

Thanks everyone for keeping the thread going while I was gone. I will post winners from last month's contest and Jan.'s contest later this week. Sorry for the delay.

Yes, the loss of the Kero-chan segments is CCS was disappointing, wasn't it, kaemmerite? :( Those were great!

I didn't get any CLAMP-related items for Christmas (didn't ask for any). But I opened my new Sakura-chan 2005 calendar once I got home in 2005. It's so CUTE!

Happy 2005 everyone!!! I praise God for a great 2004 and pray that everyone has a blessed 2005! ^_^
