I HATE cell phones!

Talk about anything in here.

Personally, I'd much rather talk on Aim. less expensive too. I only use my cell phone for "emergencies"

When we first got our cell phones my brother would play through all his ringtones in the car *cringe* Omigosh it was annoying.... and he d/led christmas ones for christmas... *twitch* I now hate jingle bell rock. That has to be one of the most annoying rings ever. When we were on vacation he set it to go off at 7:00 in the morning. I woke up to a ringtone every day x_x

0.o; So much hate.....lol

I value my cell phone because it's one of the best ways to get a hold of me. I'm a terribly mobile person. At work, I have 3 labs and a whole bunch of rooms I run around to and fro. And I'm not necessarily at home all the time as well. :P

Also, I think many international students like me have cell phones since they're always moving from one apartment to another (which I just did btw). Home phones are useless for ppl like me. It's convenient for me to call anyone in the U.S. Oh of course, it's useful during emergencies. ^_^

So, I would say I do not dislike cell phones. I just dislike irresponsible cellphone users. All users should have the courtesy to switch it off/to silent mode (which I use) during meetings, movies, church services, social functions. I confess that I've talked on the cell phone while driving but it's mostly done when necessary so this habit is minimized.

I must agree that some cellphone ringtones are horrible, though! My previous roommate used to have this really loud message alert tone, which kept ringing late at night. Apparently, ppl want to talk to her even after she's gone to bed! >_<;; I personally think she uses the cell phone too much, she's always on it!

Anyway, I do feel bad for the person who started this thread. Ppl should not end a face-to-face conversation in such an inconsiderate manner. When I get an incoming call in the middle of a conversation (whether off or on the phone), I usually try to cut it short and explain the call to the one I was talking to first. It's just a matter of being respectful and considerate of others.

I hate phones in general. I would much rather talk to someone in person. Alexander Bell may have been a genius or whatever but as far as his invention goes he can keep it. Ok mabye not that bad but I really don't like phones.

The weirdest thing is headsets. Now they are so small from the right angle a person looks like he is conversing with himself. My dad did this once and I considered talking to him so people wouldn't think he was crazy ;)

And those new walkie talkie cell phones...oh my gosh...

Hehe.. I just got a new cell phone, and while I like to play around with it (ringtones, different settings, etc) 'cause I like gadgetry, I can definitely understand getting really annoyed with them. Plenty of times while I've been engaged in a conversation with someone and their cell phone went off, and then I feel invisible for the next 20 or so minutes.. I also feel awkward to be around someone when they're in an engrossing conversation on the phone and I'm just standing there, feeling quite inconsequential.
I don't even like using phones, I much prefer talking in person instead..

Cell phones are extremely annoying. And they break so easily! My mom has been through 8 different cell phones in the past 2 or 3 months. Either ya can't send any outgoing calls, or the buttons are screwed up, or it shuts off repeatedly... something's always wrong with them. I've been through 3 cell phones myself, but that's been in a year, which isn't too bad. Playing with the ringtones is fun though. And snake is an awesome game. ^_^

I have a cell phone, but I hate it for so far 2 reasons. 1: It's one of the older Nokia models, and 2: I can't play like actual songs for ring tones and I can't personalize any ring tones for my friends.

I don't even answer our home phone. XD; I used to like the phone but now I can't stand talking on it. I get all awkward and don't know what to say.

yeah, I dunno why people feel so obligated to answer their phones all the time. that's what voicemail is for. and nine times out of ten, it's not important. my boyfriend's sister is like that. she has some stupid rap song as a ringtone and she's on it ALL THE TIME. even if we're out with the family eating lunch she'll answer it and sit there and talk on it. it's so rude. ¬¬

ALSO. when I worked at the sandwich shop, I would get people coming in to order stuff WHILE THEY WERE ON THE PHONE. I was like, "can't you just call them back?" "no that would be rude bleh blah". well, they were being rude to me. :shady:

ou know, in Japan they have cellphone jammers that kill your signal in certain places.

Actually some hotels in the US use them, although illegal many still use them. It's a way to get you to use their phones so you play extra. Some other buildings do that too.
Anyways....

My opinion of cell phones vary. I mean, I hate when people drive and talk. It really makes driving dangerous. I hate when your in the movie and one goes off.. It just makes me want to go up to them and say,
"Excuse me... you must be pretty darn important to have your phone go off during the middle of the movie. It must be about something really important. By all means, take your time and may I have your autograph?"

I hate when people don't turn them off or put them on silent when they need to be.

But....
I have a prepaid nokia one. No contract or anything. I hardly use it but it has come in handy serveral times to get me out of a few jams. I mean, I commute to San Marcos everday for school and I travel long distances quite a bit. If I were to ever break down I would be able to get a hold of someone: AAA, parents etc. Or say someone needs to get a hold of you about an important matter. I only talk on it if I need to, most of the time I use it as a caller ID and such. So as much as I do hate them, they are pratical at times. Mines not fancy or anything, just a basic old school phone. Though, sense I don't have a plan/service, I have no area restrictions meaning my calls are always clear. ANyways, there are the goods and bads. People just need to know when to keep them off or on silent. I'm all for it but people need to know how to be courteous at the same time.

I'm sorry. You are right about that. for some reason i felt like attacking something, and the cell phone seemed to be a convenient target at the time as it is not a sentient being (although some people sure think they are). Again, my apologies.

I like to know what is so important about a cell phone call for someone driving that they will drive for miles and minutes with it stuck up against their ear. Are they talking to their spouse all the way home with sweet nothings or about their day at work or just nonsense.
In the public safety services the cell phone have helped alot with getting info to people without tying up radios. Alot of them use Nextel phones because of the walkie talkie system they have. I wish Virizon had it. I don't want to change phone companies to do it.
If I want someone to get a hold of me they have to call my pager and I will call them back. I never turn my cell phone on unless I have to.

I don't mind people talking while they're driving, as long as they're using a hands free headset or something. My mother uses her cell phone for business, and she needs to answer any calls she gets from customers if she wants to keep her job. That entails answering the phone while she's in the car. I used to keep an eye on her to make sure she keeps her eye on the road and pays attention and stuff, and she does, so it's all good with me.

I get this to. I work the Hastings video department and I hate trying to help someone who is on the phone. Then when I find what they want I fell rude for interupting. I guess its there fault for talking on the phone at the same time. Its also bad when your on regester. I think sociaty has forgoten how to be polite.

Not anyone here though ;)

I used to have a mobile... unfortunately it ran out of credit (not because I used it all up... its cause the time limit ran out ;) I used it so little :P ). I never bothered to recharge the stupid thing, so it basically was a paper-weight until my dad took it a few months ago :D
