Ingemar does Toronto

Day after Christmas (that is, Kwanzaa (don't ask my opinions on that holiday)), I'm going to Toronto. This will be the third time I will be in that country, the second time being last year in Vancouver, and the first time being my birth. I realize that several of our members are Canadian. Technomancer, MelMak, Master Kenzo and Royal Wing come to mind. Considering who I voted for, I'm not staying there indefinitely (dodges projectiles, mortar rounds). My aunt who lives there has breast cancer, so this is a matter of great urgency. Plus, It's been roughly four years since I last saw snow, and considering I come from the great state of [REDACTED], this will be quite a surprise.

I may also use Toronto as a bridgehead in my eventual plan to rule the world. Just kidding!... but not really.

Guess what, It has just started to snow these past day. Just for you... ?

I hope you enjoy your time here. Even with the pollution and the very very cold wind.

(Toronto would be a good place to start for your world take over: the population is growing fast and it keeps on getting more and more multi cultural. A good place to learn about the many places in the world! Now I will stop because this sounds like an advertisement.)

OK, so Boxing Day does not involve Canadian families going naked in the snow brawling each other for cases of beer... good to get that squared away.

With my family, Boxing Day this year involved us opening most of our presents. (Brawling in the snow for beer... *heke*? O_o )

I thought it was called Boxing Day because it used to be the day that families would put all their Christmas decorations away, back into their boxes. I didn't know about the naked beers.

Speaking of beer, I ordered my first beer today. I know this will offend many a non-teetotaller, but beer sucks whether it is American, Canadian or (in this case) Japanese. I doubt anyone drinks it for the taste.

The vaunted McMaster Univ. of which Technomancer speaks so very enthusiastically is not on my itinerary, unfortunately. However, I did visit a professor affiliated with said school (he either taught there, schooled there, but definitely has grandchildren attending there). He is Richard Longnecker. My mother knew his wife's family when the were missionaries in the Philippines. I "googled" his name and instead got mostly pages of another Longnecker who works in Bio--that's not him. He is a Biblical scholar, among other things. Also among other things, it seems that Canadian media is really hostile or pejorative to Evangelicals, of whom Dr. Longnecker is part. No surprise, really: American media is just as hostile or at least tries to be. Anyway, he was a really good and kind man and I enjoyed my time a his house near [REDACTED].

I get to visit the "scary tower" tomorrow.

OK, so I'm back.

I have a wierd theory that I now believe has solid evidence. It is this. Wheverver I go, snow goes away. When I arrived, it was around -5 degrees Celsius. The temprature slowly rose, and much of the snow melted until in the latter half of my stay, when it became around 7 degrees C. When I left, my auntie told me that there was now a winter storm watch and a possibility of mixed precipitation. And that it was really cold.

My reason for believing this is because when I went to New York in 2001, there was a strange weather phenomenon that left the ENTIRE EAST COAST and other regions that typically snow in December without snow. When I had left, the Eastern US was blanketed with snow, including the SOUTH! OMG!

So next time you're expecting Snow in your region, give me a call and I'll chase the snow away. In fact, keep me all winter. (Of course, if I leave, then maybe it will snow in June, so be warned).
