Video's slowing down

Postby Bobtheduck » Fri Dec 24, 2004 12:39 pm

Ever since I did a clean reinstall of XP, my videos haven't worked right... I can't watch any videos in full screen because they refresh so slowly (like 1 frame a second) This was never a problem before, when my system was LOADED with spyware and I had all sorts of things eating up memory, so what could have happened...

E-machines T1100 256 MB Ram, 1.0 Ghz Processor
Windows XP home edition, service pack 2
Intel graphics card
I use Firefox, which I notice slows down my machine a considerable amount, but this is a problem whether firefox is running or not...

Any clue what could be the problem?

EDIT: Wait, I've been through this before... It's because I changed the refresh rate... I had to put it back to 60, because on 85 it slowed down my videos... Is that a processor problem, or a video card problem, or what? Anyone know?

Here's something I found at a site:
Explanation: The video card's refresh rate is too low. You may believe that the video card you are using should be capable of running at a higher refresh rate than the system is currently using. You are unable to set the video card to run at a refresh rate that it is supposed to support.

What are your video card specs?

I have the right codecs, and as for the refresh, it's the oppsite problem... It goes away when I LOWER the refresh rate... Meh, I've had this comp for a long time now... It seems fitting to let it die and just save up for a new one...

So if you lower the refresh rate it's all good?
