A friend of mine, Dave, and I are working on a webcomic that is to be released in January. Both of us are writing it together, and I'll be doing the art...
I have to say though, it isn't a Christian comic. It has nothing at all to do with religion, and we've decided to keep it pretty clean. Aside from minor blood and some violence (and the generally mean sense of humour) there's nothing too objectionable. It's a hybrid of action, comedy, and drama.
Here's the strange concept: One night in Paris, a massive attack destroys the entire city.
These two guys, Vortex and Toxic as they go by, got fed up with 'the world'. Just so happens that Toxic hijacked a giant robot, and Vortex was blasted with radiation from it. So Vortex has some type of abilities that he really doesn't know much about, or really care about. Toxic has a giant robot, which he nicknamed "Rocker," since it has a giant geetar that it swings around.
So Tox and Vorx start attacking the world. And lots of stuff happens. They're the villains, and fight the good guys(as well as other rival bad guys).
The character of "Toxic" is a cool, collected guy. He's crazy, but rational. He carries a "gitaroo" which he fights with. People tend to like Toxic.
"Vortex" is completely insane. Most of the time he makes absolutely no sense, but under that exterior is a broken guy. He's had a tragic life, but learned to really not care.
Both of them consider each other like brothers.
Overall it's pretty goofy, but has a lot of action and some drama. We have a lot of fun writing everything.
Dave and I wrote up a Christmas comic, which I'm in the process of drawing...I need it done by the 24th.
The launch for the actual comic is sometime in January of '05. It will be five pages a week, updated every Friday.
This whole concept sounds terrible, doesn't it?
Regardless, it's our brainchild, and we do the comic for us. We don't 'give in to what the fans want.' As Dave put it, that wouldn't be our comic.
