Thankfully, I was proven wrong. They all turned out being pretty likeable, Jean was not nearly annoying as I half expected him to be, and Nemo is simply the coolest character in the show.

On a side note, each episode causes me to love this series more and more. I think Gainax has really made a masterpiece here.
