Amazon does carry Hot Song Contest, but buy the import version. It's a bit more expensive but it's worth it. There's a couple dull tracks on it, but otherwise excellent.

I'll check out those resources you mentioned. So much for financial responsibility by restraining my CD appetite, ne? ;)

I like the opening to Zoids:Zero, but H.T's Trigun theme blows all comers away.

Ok, it just doesn't get any better than the opening theme for trigun1 That song rocks! I also like most of the gundam wing songs and the opening them from Noir.

I'm rather fond of the opening theme to Serial Experiments Lain. I think it's pretty compatible with the obscure fluidity of the plot.

"Free Bird" - Haibane Renmei. I am freaking in love with this song! It's made me teary-eyed! Beautiful instrumental!

"The Real Folk Blues" - Cowboy Bebop. Seriously, all the music in Bebop rocks. I think it has the best music of any anime.

I happen to like "Kaze Wa Mirai Ni Fuku" from Trigun. That's the end theme. I like it a lot.

"The Cruel Angel's Thesis" - Neon Genesis Evangelion. I used to get the song stuck in my head all the time... I haven't watched Eva in over a year, and I still get it stuck in my head! I can sing the first few lyrics to it...

"Ride on Shooting Star" - FLCL That song, like the anime, is just so... rocking and fun.

That opening theme from Hellsing. I also rather like the end theme, but I like the opening theme of that anime more.

"Soramimi Cake" and "Rasberry Heaven" - Azumanga Daioh. They're just so fun.

I've never seen .hack//sign, but a friend burned the CD for me. Oh, YES.

I have to say, I love Cowboy Bebop's opening theme. A lot. :cool:

Inuyasha -- the opening always fills me with a warm, happy familiarity -- and I LOVE the closing music.

I have always enjoyed "You Get to Burning" from Nadesico: Martian Sucessor.

I would have to say the most obnoxious one (opening theme) I have heard would be Dragon Ball GT... Oh-well, atleast I dont watch that one very much. ;)

The Karekano and Trigun openers have my vote for best theme songs, but as far as most addictive, I would have to go with:
  • The first Ranma opener - we still get a random YAPAPA! around here.
  • "Datte, datte" from Tenshi ni Narumon. The staying power of this song is attested by the fact that all of my friends know the words, in Japanese, and against their will.
