Stupid Rurouni Kenshin fight

Me and and Heart of Sword were fighting today on what the color of Kenshin's eyes are. I say they're blue, she says they're purple. That is only 'cause of one manga cover and she swears the anime shows him with purple eyes. What's your take on this?

The anime does indeed show Kenshin with purple eyes.

They are purple in the anime and I read somewhere that purple eyes symbolize being a little more than human, which fits with Kenshin.

i remember being told by someone that Kenshin's eyes change color, depending on what mode/mood he is in - purple for normal and amber for extreme anger or during battle... (i don't remember exactally though, so i may be wrong...)

Well they look blue, and he's described as having "red hair and blue eyes" on the OVA... there's a song called Ice BLUE Eyes... although in some pics I've found him to have purplish eyes, as well as yellow and even red :/

From what I understand, Kenshin's eyes are officially violet/purple both in the manga and anime. The eye color change is only used to differentiate the vagabond-to-battousai Kenshin shift.

I've always thought that Ice Blue Eyes was dedicated to Aoshi...but I've just noticed that Aoshi's eyes are kinda blueish-green. But 'ice' describes his personality pretty accurately.

Oroooororo? At least one person agrees wit' me, but i don't see how I could miss the purple eyes. Mabye it is like you say and they change wit' the mood he's in.
i just seem to remember all covers for the manga so far 'cept five having Kenshin with blue eyes.

I just looked back at some manga pics. I think the problem is Kenshin's eyes are really a mix between purple and blue. True, there are times it looks blue but there's always a tinge of violet somewhere in there, IMO. BTW, I'm referring to the later manga volumes (Vol 9++). I suspect there might be a possibility Watsuki-sama (the mangaka) changed things as the story went along.

There is one character I remember whose hairstyle changed quite a bit.
[spoiler= Vol 20 above, Battousai's past] Tomoe's hairstyle was a bit different when she was first introduced and her eyes were light-colored. It became more "layered" in the front of her face (can't describe it any better ^_^;; ) and her eyes became dark/black later on. [/spoiler]

So I won't be surprised if this was the case with Kenshin's eye color as well.

We're still friends, Heart of Sword. I just happen to be one stubborn girl. I guess I will just have to pay more attention.

sometimes Kenshin's eyes are purple, and they are blue somtimes too. they turn yellow when he gets close to becoming the Battosai, tike when he fights Sitou in the TV show

Violet. Or Purple. Whichever you prefer to call it. They only change to yellow/amber when he is in Battousai form.

I was sorta agreeing with y'all in my own way. Look at my second to last post. He does have blue in his eyes too in my avatar, with purple in the darker spots. Maybe Shao Feng Li is right and i just have different lighting..... eyah that's what I'm goin wit'.

In the anime I can't tell wether his eyes are purple or blue. Maybe a cross between both? But in the manga they're blue.
