Amazing Race Season 2 - Checkpoint 2

Talk about anything in here.

Amazing Race Season 2 - Checkpoint 2

Postby Godly Paladin » Thu Nov 18, 2004 10:19 am

All right, the smoke has cleared and the following racers are still standing:

Mangafanatic
SManBeyond
Swordguy
Smartypants
Sunako
Dark Angel
Zane
ZiP
termyt

The following racers have been eliminated:

Pumpkinkorn52
Mr_Anderson

I feel like I should explain why these racers have been eliminated. Mr_Anderson posted a fact that had already been used, (by Dark Angel, I believe) and never changed it. I sent him a PM and posted a warning on the thread, so I believe I gave him ample time and warning.

Although there is no fixed ending or starting times, I think that Pumpkinkorn has had more than enough time to check in.

A final note: remember, we want facts that are geographical and relevant to modern times. Examples: (not a definitive list)

-Population
-Area
-Largest Cities
-Major Religion

And you cannot post facts that have already been posted, so remember to check the other racer's entries before making your own fact.

****************

And the next country is...

SUDAN!!!

****************

Let's get it on! GO GO GO GO GO GO!

The capital of Sudan is Khartoum.

Ah ha ha ha ah ha ha! Once again, I prevail!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

So, um, where's Termyt? He'd better not let himself get eliminated in a second round. How anti-climatic would that be?

You'd like to think that, wouldn't you, Osaka. Fear not, friends, I'm still here and I'm checking in.

The Sudanese literacy rate is at 61.1% for the entire population.

That fact also comes from our friends at the CIA.

All facts are legitimate. This round is going very smoothly!

Dark Angel and Zane are going to have to fight it out for the last spot!

I'm not going to stay up until 3 in the morning, either! No, the checkpoints will come in at sane hours, like lunchtime and the evening.

However, in the final round, the last two contestants trade facts with increasingly short time controls until one of them can't answer. In the first season that went on until about 3 AM, yes.

To everyone: Remember that as people get eliminated you'll have less and less time to check in!
