Turkey & Gravy Flavored Soda...?

Postby Lehn » Thu Nov 11, 2004 4:58 pm

http://www.jonessoda.com/files/turkey04.html wrote:Seattle, WA, U.S.A. – Jones Soda Co. (the "Company" or "Jones Soda" or "Jones"), announces today its limited edition holiday pack of five new seasonal flavors which includes: Green Bean Casserole Soda, Mashed Potato & Butter Soda, Fruitcake Soda, Cranberry Soda and Turkey & Gravy Soda.

"Our holiday pack takes the work, worries and cost out of preparing a turkey dinner, so our consumers can spend more time with their loved ones. We even included utensils," says Peter van Stolk, President & C.E.O. "We realized consumers are concerned about the 2,000 calories that each full holiday meal contains. That’s why we made our sodas zero calories and zero carbs. Now, you can enjoy all the mashed potatoes and butter without worrying about the carbs."

Ummm..... like 'ew'?

I think I'll pass and just have the real stuff, thanks.

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

Hmmm...It's probably gross but I would like to try it just to see how it tastes.

There is no way that people are going to drink sodas instead of having Thanksgiving dinner. What are they thinking?

The fruitcake and cranberry flavors don't sound too bad, but even I'd pass on the other three. @_@

Love is that feeling you get when a girl looks at you and it feels like your driving a car at high speeds and experience a sudden drop. You know what i mean? That sudden sinking feeling you get in your stomach? Yeah, that's love. Leave's you speechless everytime.

That just sounds nasty, but it makes me laugh. Yeah, I might try the cranberry, but I think that's the limit.

Then again, it might not be that bad. When I was in Japan, they had this Gatorade-like sports drink called Pocari Sweat (cause it replenishes what you lose by sweating, I guess.) Disgusting sounding name, no? But it was one of the best drinks I ever had. *drools*

I've always wanted to try their turkey soda, but they've always sold out of it too fast! They should make more.

As an aspiring food product developer and sensory scientist, I'm both appalled and curious. I really wonder how their benchtop evaluation/consumer taste panels went. 0.o; In general, you do not mix 'savory' with 'sweet', due to the general perception of today's consumers. But hey, it's a limited holiday edition, and I guess they decided it's fine to experiment. Even if it's not successful, it's not going to threaten the whole product line.
