I checked right now (9:45 est) and its forming, and it looks relly pretty! you can see the clouds under all that darkness! So go look! Your next chance is in 2007! Take pictures of it as well!

Lucky you :/ I heard that it would be a "blood moon" but the thing is that it's FREEZING here, so totally covered with clouds! And not just any clouds, but snow-clouds! Mou... and I really wanted to see this red moon! Reminds me of Wolf's Rain. Well, if anyone sees any funky looking flowers....

I didn't know anything about this until today when I heard some classmates discussing it. I haven't been out yet but I bet it's quite a site :)

Stupid clouds! But that sure sounds just a little pessimitic.... :/ I feel like I live in the tundra now (close enough!) never see the light of day during this season..... And I wanna see that moon! :stressed:

Fortunately, the lunar eclipse began when we were in Astronomy class, so we looked at it through the telescope at the observatory. Our professor told us it was supposed to turn red first because of the penumbra, but that never happened =( I was really looking forward to that part. It's still interesting to watch, though.

It's not red, like you would think. It's more of a copper-ish color. The Eclipse is over now, by the way. That is, unless you wish to sit and watch it uneclipse.

Ah your from the praries! Yeah I'm two provinces over to the west. (I feel your pain when it comes to trying to look outside at night!)

I remember once sometime in late summer-early fall I seen the moon at a HUGE size and it was some shade of orange. The sun was setting at the time and it didn't eclipse.... would this be the so-called harvest moon? But seriously, it was HUGE!

Another time I remember with the youth camping trip and the moon was VERY bright. It was out the night before, but it was bright enough to see things quite clearly :/

The odd and mysterious moon....

Um, no.. actually it's red right now, also meaning it's not over yet. It's supposed to end around 11.

What I meant was that it is not a very bright color. Not a bright neon red. It has a tint to it, yes. When I said the eclipse was over, I meant that the moon was completely eclipsed. It still has to move out of the earth's shadow, though.

^_^;; Actually, I didn't really know much about this until I saw everyone talk about it here. So I ran out and lo behold, I see a moon that's slightly rust-brownish in color. It's pretty cool. XD

It was a beautiful, clear night here and the eclipse was fabulous. I stayed up late to watch it, but now I'm tired at work!

I saw it last night. Usually it's cloudy when I go to view eclipses, but last night was very clear.

It had a rust color sometimes, but it looked more brown than anything. It was blurry too. It wasn't a clean edge on the shadow. Still cool, though.

I couldn't get the digital camera to work for it. Oh, well. ^_^
