What's your greatest fear?

Postby serena » Tue Oct 26, 2004 3:37 pm

since i began this thread, i have to be the first to post, i guess my greatest fear is causing the death of a child, i'm a very motherly type person, and it angers me when i see child abuse and neglect, and it causes me the deepest pain to see or hear of a child's death, and to be the cause of it, directly or indirectly, like in a car crash or something, would just drive me insane.

STOP ABORTION NOW!

oh that's a good question, I think my biggest fear is If I were to know someone who died and they didn't know Christ, I think it would kill me

I think mine is to lose my brother, he's the only one I can show my true self too. Scence i'm usually very shy and quit, I can be energetric around him and not be afraid of what he thinks.

To be quite honest, that life is meaningless and only annihilation awaits humanity after death, that though there was ample reason to believe that the trinitarian YHWH exists, He nevertheless didn't.

Hmm...that's a tough one.

I'd have to say first and foremost (and this is gonna sound REALLY bad, but it isn't intended) is that people once again become super-patriotic like they did after 9/11, where if you even said "I think the government sucks" you were frowned upon and even called a terrorist in the worst cases. I think that fanatical devotion to an earthly organization/government is extremely dangerous. Since God isn't earthly, He doesn't count.

Um, second, and the one that hits a little closer to home, is the fear that I may never find a woman who can accept me for who I am. Er, romantically, that is. I know there's a lot of women on this site who accept me as friends.

Third, heights. I have acrophobia. People have tried to cure me, and failed. I'll just always be afraid of 'em.

Well if it's not intended then don't suggest that it might be. There is nothing wrong with being patriotic for your country after a tragedy like 9/11. I don't think all the "God Bless America" or we "We Support Our Troops" stickers and signs which most of Americans showed was fanatical devotion. I don't recall anyone of any significance calling unpatriotic people terrorists...sure point out Joe Shmo in your town who might of said something akin to that. But then I could show you major public figures who are racists and bigots which I don't see people complaining about too much.

oh heights scare the poo outta me but I can't say no to them I love the adrenaline rush, especially like at theme parks on those rides that go up then just drop you so many odd feet oh man it's great and there's this other ride at Six Flags here in Houston called Serial Thriller and there's two little handles on them and you just kinda hang and I hold onto the handles to pretend I'm in a Gundam it's the greatest but that's probably because I have a creative imagination when it comes to mechs =D

All those children who were denied life and those mothers who deserve death. Those mothers who abort their children so that they themselves won't die. To cowardly to save their children...
And the fact that it's legal...

The murder of children is my worst fear come true.

That my greatest fear is that our faith is in vain, that though there was compelling reason to believe that YHWH (Hebrew name of God in the Old Testament, usually translated LORD in all caps, though it can also mean the EVER-LIVING) exists, He never in fact did. That all life was for naught and that the fate of all men is to have all consciousness destroyed forever, as a common pagan grave inscription in the Roman era had it, "I was not, I was, I am not, I don't care." And that not only I go through this fate, but untold generations of humanity had to and will have to to endure brief lives filled with suffering for no reason at all, and to likewise forget all they ever felt, all they ever thought, and their very existence. If such were true, I think it would have been better that life had never had the misfortune of coming into existence. That we had believed a false hope that we had the misfortune of spreading to others, that because there was no God the universe would end merely by suffering from thermodynamic heat-death where all energy is conserved but none is usable for anything anymore. In truth, that is my greatest fear.

I have two "greatest fears" .

I am afraid that I will die alone. I don't want to be by myself when I pass from this world into heaven. I want the people that care about me to be near me and by my side.

My other fear is that I won't make it into heaven. It's pretty irrational, and I'm sure that I'm not the only person with this fear, but it's plagued me ever since I can remember. Up until I was about 21, I used to have recurring nightmares about it. I live my life as I should, and I know that Jesus and my God love me....but I always wonder if I will ever be good enough.

Wow, Ghostonthenet, I'm not even going to comment on that. I guess you will forever wander around unsure. For me, I am very sure of Who my God is, and that He is the great Creator of all life and His Son, Jesus Christ the only way of salvation. If I am a fool in believing, then count me a fool (I Corinthians 1:25-31).

Anyways, my greatest fear is my children being hurt. I don't mean them dying, but having pain. That is the worse fear for me.

Shao-Feng-Li, remember that even though those poor babies die, they will be with the Lord, unlike the mother who is still alive. The greatest thing for her is to know that she has a Savior and in knowing this she will either decide not to abort or will not be so promiscuous in the future. We have to love all people.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Don't get my wrong, I believe that YHWH of the Bible exists beyond a reasonable doubt, but that there are times when an unreasonable doubt sets in, with disasterous implications. I will not still call myself an agnostic, those days are over, merely that though the fear rarely takes force, it nevertheless exists and counts as the greatest. If you are a fool for believing the Gospel, then so am I.

First I wanna say that Chib-chan's answer is absolutely adorable ....

My greatest fear ... I guess I would say my paranoia about people not being who I think they are. Like I know my brother is a Christian and not scary ... but what if he turns into a horrible monster at night and goes for the kitchen knives ... or what if my parents really hated me and were lying about everything they told me as a kid. Or what if my family/friends hired a hit on me... hmmm I think the real fear there is that the people I love don't like me ... but that's okay because God loves me lol and it's a pretty irrational fear.

My biggest rational fear is that someone would hurt my little sibs ... 'cuase then I might have to go vigilante on them ... it would be really hard to love someone who hurt my cute little baby sibs ...

I think my greatest fear is seeing the people I care about hurt, especially my girlfriend. It would be hard for me to love anyone who hurt her for me. That is my greatest fear.
Absence is to love as wind is to a flame. It extinguishes the little, it ignites the great.

I do certainly fear the idea of those I love feeling pain or (selfishly, because even if they'd go to heaven, I would miss them terribly) daying, and there are a lot of specifics I won't go into. For myself, though, I think I would most fear losing my eyes and/or hands because I love seeing and creating art, and I don't know what I'd do without it.

I guess I fear four things:

1) I fear the process of dying, not death. Death will be the good part, but I fear that I'd go through alot of pain in the process.

2) I fear loosing a close family member or friend. I think I would probably die from grief.

3) I sometimes fear loosing my eyes sight. Don't ask me why. My vision is great, but I just have these irrational fears about not being about to watch movies with my friends, or read manga, or loosing my eyes sight and forgetting what the people I love the most look like.

4) Lastly, I have always been afraid the the person I fall in love with romantically won't love me too. You know, he moves off and marries some other chick like all those melodramatic teen movies.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
