Into the Lions' Den!

Postby Galant » Mon Oct 18, 2004 11:39 am

Well this has been fun!

A few weeks ago at youth a friend of mine came up to me and told me about this guy who was leaving messages on her myspace page. He was asking all kinds of theological questions and basically questioning her faith and God in ways she wasn't prepared to answer, she asked if I could take a look, so I did. Tossed out a few answers. He came back with more. This went on a while then rather than take up more of her myspace space he gave me a link to another forum...welcome to infidelguy.org. I entered the forum as requested (only a few days after the request came - I have things to do!) and then found in the 'One on One' section a thread called Galant vs. Qxtrue (the guy who was messaging). Once there...well, you can read for yourself. So I introduced myself today and who knows what I've got in store! Not sure I'll be around too long if I'm just the latest punching bag.

Anyway, if anyone wants to lend a hand feel free to drop by, the link is

http://www.infidelguy.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=index

Go to 'Forum' and then to 'One on One' and look for 'Galant vs. Qxtrue'. :)

EDIT: I want to make a bit of a change. It was wrong of me to just toss out a few critical comments/insults towards the members of infidelguy or Qxtrue. I don't yet know what Qxtrue's story is and as for infidel, whilst I'm sure there are plenty of individuals who are honestly expressing their opinion and see value in the debates rather than just bash others, theists or whatever.

Hopefully I can say something of value that will make a difference to these guys - I know of a few who came to God because someone took the time to sit and think and talk with them. So my apologies for my stereotyping, generalising, and cheap comments.

Help or comments still appreciated in the whole thing.

;)

From a cursory glance at the site, my guess is that you're just the latest punching bag. These people seem to be "debating" things for the express purpose of bashing Christianity. I would not advise anyone to go there, personally, unless you pray and feel led by God to go "into the lions' den."

Remember, Daniel didn't walk into the lions' den; he was thrown in. God protected him, but God doesn't often tell people to tempt hungry lions. That's essentially what you'll be doing by willfully going to an atheist site.

And I guess I'll add, please don't go there just to flame them. No site should have to deal with trolls, even one you disagree with. If you want to test your metal and go there to discuss, please remember Whose you are and how your comments reflect upon Him.

I used to do this sort of thing. To quote the late Walter Martin, it is a good way to "generate lots of heat, but very little light."

The only thing I would say is that you shouldn't do this unless you feel that you are adequately prepared for it. The most you will probably be able to do for these people is show them that Christian theism is a reasonable position, rather than merely a joke.

Still there will always be those reading who are honest seekers of the truth, who will be affected by your words. Keep them in mind in your debates.

Well... I read through the FAQ and I'd suggest you be ready for some flaming.

Also remember that some people have hardened their hearts against God and even for the ones who haven't, you can't convice them. You can plant a seed but only God can change someone's heart. Good luck. ^_^ I'd help but I'd really rather not register. If someone could register and give the name and pass for lots of us to use I would go on over to provide support.

I am currently in debate and it's quite civil. I was first of all wondering if people were interested in seeing how it goes...???

- If so, could I get permission to post the statements here? I'll edit out any occasional language?

Hmm... I think we'd really rather you didn't. I'd recommend people contact you via PM for more information on this one.

It fairly obviously qualifies as "theology debate" and while it's not a debate that's taking place on caa, per se, we'd rather you didn't bring it here, as such.

So to wrap it up, please only respond with suggestions, etc, via pm.

Thanks for understanding!

No problem, that's why I checked.

So if anyone does want to know how it's going, either follow the link I posted initially, or PM me.

God bless,
G.
