Here was CNs original press release:

"Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi: One of Japan's biggest pop music acts arrives in America, not with a massive stadium tour but as a cartoon. Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, set to debut in December, follows the adventures of two very cool, but very different, pop stars as they travel from gig to gig or just hang out in their hometown of Tokyo. Ami is the peppy, positive and resourceful one. Yumi is the hard-rocking, no-nonsense cynic with an absolutely infallible sense of cool. Together, they take the world by storm, despite occasional misjudgments from their well-meaning but tragically square manager, Kaz. Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi also will feature live-action segments starring the real life Puffy AmiYumi as well as the group's catchy J-pop hits."

It was recently announced that CN will use footage from a recent Puffy Ami Yumi concert for it's New Year's Eve celebration.

Very interesting. I have little interest in DVDs, but this one doesn't seem half bad. What I'd really like, however, are the later DVDs in the series.

That is why I am hardly holding my breath.

Hmm... I wish I had more to say in this thread. I hate to post without contributing, but at the moment I would be no more than tangential. I really need to see this series more often.

It was a "silly" episode, but it was moderately entertaining.

What I want to know is why they did a Forth of July episode in OCTOBER...

Anyway, what do you guys think of the latest one? I thought it was okay, if kind of forced. I wish they'd shown enough foresight to actually slip the bee girl into the first Brother Blood episode rather than just saying "Oh, she was there. You didn't ever see her but trust us, she was there."

The whole Cybord/Blood relationship looks like the new Robin/Slade, which could be good or bad. If they'd actually aknowledge how similar the two plot lines are, it could make the relationship between Robin and Cyborg really interesting. Unfortunately, this episode made it look like no one even noticed the similarities... :shake:

I enjoyed seeing a show actually acknowledge that being inside a whale's mouth would be REALLY nasty, though. All those Jonah cartoons where it's squeaky clean insided the fish really annoy me

Well, mostly because the fourth of July is in the middle of the re-run season. If they only showed the current season, all of our shows would only take place in fall or winter. We'll see if the re-run of that will take place on the 4th next year.

Don't look at me like that. He asked.

The latest episode wasn't that good. It was similar to the Robin/Slade arc, like Blitzkrieg said.

I know its not a new episode, but I liked the one with X. When some one has stolen Robins X suite. I wonder if they will every let us know who that guy is?

I used to try and guess who Slade was. For a long time I thought he must be another DC character in desguise. Untill he started doing really bad stuff, I actualy thought he could have been Bruce Wayne, testing Robin. I guess Im just paraniod of strange plot twists.

Note:I do not still think this
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Good point.

A little Slade histroy, for those interested:
I never had the feeling Slade was like Batman in disguise, but that would have been an interesting plot twist. I agree that they couldn't go down that road now, though. Anyway, Slade is a well established character and enemy of the Titans in the comic books, so I more or less assumed it was him.

Jinx is one of the three Hive students that appears in the first episode (and others at various times). She has pink hair and apparently psychic powers.

Slade Wilson is an adult in the comics as well. Probably in his late forties or early fifties. It's hard to tell with comic book continuity being what it is. He was part of a government experiment to create a super soldier back in Vietnam.

I missed the Brother Blood episodes, so I didn't think about the bee girl. As to the Cyborg/Blood relationship, I think that they really didn't acknowledge it because I think that they might be setting up for Cyborg to leave. I came to this conclusion because at the end of the episode when the Titans are back at the Tower and leaving to stop a crime, Robin comes back to get in to get Cyborg. Robin says it's time to go and runs back out. Then Cyborg says, "Maybe it is." I can't convey the tone here but it sounded like he was thinking about leaving. I took it as a type of foreshadow.

And as if this post needs to be any longer; Yeah Blitzkrieg1701, I like that the show acknowledged that being inside a whale's mouth would be nasty too.
