Anyone catch "Spellbound" this evening? I only saw the last ten minutes when Raven released Melkior, but what it looked pretty good.

Opinions?

I saw the whole thing. It was GREAT! Even though it was about black spells and such, it still had good values in it.

Spellbound was pretty good. It didn't show the good side of dark magic, however, because evil was equated with deception and black spells. Raven's powers that she uses for good were more important and powerful than the evil that she must face.

Even if the episode wasn't perfect, it was still very good. It also had a good deal of development for the relationship of Beast Boy and Raven.... And I happen to like that very much :thumb: .

The one thing is that Raven was interested in reading the book and the others kept disturbing her so she could finish it. Then Beast Boy said things that Raven heard through the door that hurt her feeling, so I think the book used that for its advantage to work on her to get her to do what it wanted.

I agree... that episode did contain a few real-life parallels despite its fantasy facade. People turn to anything that makes them feel like they belong...

Ahh, now you've gotten me into a philosophical mood ;) !

I was kind of disapointed by "Spellbound," since it didn't really do anything new with Raven's character. The whole wizard/dragon-in-a-book plot element was novel (pardon the pun) but it felt like they had to ignore some character development from the past and make Raven more reclusive than usual just so they could have her learn to open up all over again. (a slight overstatement, maybe)

As for Slade, I think he's still alive, but lying in a hospital bed hooked up to a bunch of machines somewhere. He DID have a run in with a river of lava, after all. It would explain why he used such an indirect method of getting to Robin this time (can't exactly mount a physical attack when you're a lump of charcoal in a bed, can you?)

I do agree somewhat with you on the topic of Spellbound; the theme of the episode was reminiscent of previous character development for Raven (such as Nevermore, which was an excellent episode). The episode itself wasn't great, but the idea was decent and I liked the Raven-Beast Boy interaction at the end of the episode.

And I'm not sure if Slade is alive or not... He won't come back this season, anyway...

Slade is ALWAYS there. Did you see haunted? Watch it. At the end they give away that he's coming back. AND WHEN HE DOES I WILL BE THERE! WITH A CAMERA! OR NOT! Who's your favorite character?

I just read the history of Raven on a website.

Holy crap in a hat...she's not even...HER...she's just possessing a body! She was also rejected by the Justice League...which is why she joined the Titans.

MY favorite character would have to be beast boy or raven... beast boy is friendly and I think he has the coolest powers but raven is a lot smarter and calmer etc. There both so cool I cant choose...

Yeah, that last scene was very nicely done. I just wish they'd been a little smoother with the character development.

And, for whatever reason, STANKBALL still cracks me up!

I liked the stankball bit too! It was funny to see Cyborg and Beast Boy pestering Raven with their ridiculous game and then to see her using her powers to play with them later on in the episode...

Very funny.

The thing is, we can't necessarily assume they're using the original Raven point for point. I would imagine they'll alter some things just to mess with fans of the original series' heads.

I haven't seen this show in quite a while. That's a shame, really.

It isn't entirely just the words I used; my grammar was not entirely correct. Unfortunately, I didn't have an immediate method of correcting it. To summerize: it isn't entirely your fault.

Now, to answer the question: You had a "Is Teen Titans Anime?" poll, perhaps? No, your thread was not the direct one I was referring to. There have been several other threads that have become about the issue. The ones that annoyed me were those speaking about Teen Titans as an anime, in which people complained that Teen Titans wasn't really an anime and began debating about it. All I meant was that I don't want to go through my logic again.

I bought the Teen Titans volume 1 DVD the other day for my son. Has 6 episodes on it those being Divide and Conquer (the very first episode), Sisters (about Starfire and Blackfire), Final Exam about their battle with the three villians including Gizmo, Forces of Nature with the brothers Thunder and Lightning, The Sum Of His Parts when the cyber hermit was seeking to remove Cyborg's human parts, and my favorite of the volume Nevermore where Beast Boy and Cyborg enter into Raven's mind through her mirror.
