Bleach

has anyone else seen the Bleach anime? the manga seems popular, if it's the same series (it has a shinigami and a kid who can see ghosts? right? i've never actually read it.) well the first episode ofthe anime came out recently! my friend who i lovingly call the "God of Anime" (because she knows everything about anime... or close enough) told me about it so i went off and watched... the themesong alone is enough to hook you! plus the art is really spiffy. unfortunately my mediaplayer decided to become bad and play it really choppy... so i missed what some of the dialogue meant, since my Japanese isn't all that good. but still i thought is was cool...

anyone else watch?

After reading the preview of Bleach, it never did appeal to me. Resembled Shaman King/Hikaru no Go with the whole "can see ghosts thing" and so it doesn't interest me too much.

*looks above* *sigh* I guess it's time to change my horrible pixaled avatar that took long enough just to get at the right size :/

Yeah, they changed a few things from the manga. But I really liked the catchy opening and ending--very pop/punk art-ish. Not really too fond of the 'anime air-brush' look but overall I like it. Curious to see if they're going to diverge off the manga much...

I like to read the manga, at least what I have read of it. I wish Viz would replace Yu-Gi-Oh with Bleach in its monthly run.

As for the anime, I haven't seen any of it. However, I think it has a decent chance of being good, just based off the anime of it. I wonder how long it will be before the series becomes liscenced here in America...

I haven't seen any of it yet but I am a fan of the manga. The anime should be good and methinks it will probably become pretty popular.

Those comparisons are rather broad. All three are shonen certainly, but I fail to find a lot in common between Bleach and Hikaru no Go(considering the latter does not even involve fighting) aside from typical shonen qualities.
And the fights in Bleach are different from the fights in Shaman King...

i saw the first episode, and i enjoyed it. Although it has that whole "how can this mere human summon up all this power???" or "What kind of human is this?" like a lot of animes, the kid is the son of some guy who was some sort of master at magic or some super hero. And the kid is always either just as good or eventually better becasue he is "that guy's" son. Or the "rare" person who is always able to have some "special power" that he never knew about. it's a good anime
