My friends argue against christianity being the truth in some intresting ways some of which ill write down here. I'm just not sure how to answer their arguments.
One of the first things about christianity is to love each other. Love your neighbour as yourself and also love your enemies. Well, Satan is our enemy right? So we are meant to love him. How can we love a being that has caused so much destruction and willfully destroys lives? You have to forgive him for all that he has done to harm you.
Another thing is that christians burned witches alive and drowned them and the bible itsaelf says you shall not permit a witch to live i believe. Isn't killing people murder? And isnt murder a sin? Also these people who killed these people whether the people they called witches were innocent or not say that you should love everyone inxcluding your enemies. Where was the love in their hearts when they ruthlessly killed the witches? The crusades is another great example of christians killing in the name of christ.
"1 John 3 "He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning." Does this mean that everyone who has ever sinned is of the devil and not of christ? Nobody is perfect and we have ALL sinned. Does that mean we are all of the devil?
My friends have also asked me this: What is so bad about wisdom that God forbade Adam and Eve to have it? God does want us to have knowledge and wisdom. Why if he doesnt want us to have that is their books like proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Yet he forbade Adam and Eve from eating the forbidden fruit and thus gaining knowledge and wisdom. So on the one hand He forbade us from gaining wisdom and on the other He offers it to us in His word the bible itself. Why did God forbade Adam and Eve to gain wisdom then and now He offers it to us?
One other thing from the bible they mentioned was about issac and how God ordered Abraham to kill his own son. God ordered Abraham to do something that was a sin and thus directly against the ten commandments and of course against Gods will. "Thou shalt not kill." Why would God order one of His followers to do something that was against the rules that God Himself has written?
Sorry to write all this but i need help to convince them of the truth of Christ. How do you argue against these kinds of arguments? How can i convince them of the truth of God? I feel like im facing Satan himself here. It's not going to be easy for me to convince my friends that Christ is the only way.
