Her name is Ran... I'm not sure what her surname is, or what her dad's name is, in the show... It's certainly not moore. Over 200 eps, and I know he won't be an adult again until the end... That's a bit depressing... One of the reasons I watch anime is BECAUSE they are (usually) serial and (usually) short...

Oh. Thanks. I like that name. Mouri Ran...Ran Mouri. That's pretty!...But wow..Detective Conan IS a longgg show...I can't STAND the suspense!!! I can't wait til him and Ran meet again!!! >.<;

If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]

<<Really?! *drooling* Where'd you get that?>>
Um, some fansite. I'll go look for the URL... Okay, go here, it's about halfway down the page... But I warn you, it's a bit crappy.
http://lavender.fortunecity.com/psycho/586/page/things.htm

The first manga came out rencently and it's rated Older Teen. WHY, OH WHY?! I think the only reasons are the guy's head on the rollercoster (and believe me, he bleed red in the manga...or at least black...) and when the found the man with the kinfe in his back in Yoko's apartment, both incidents had realistic blood. Which in this context, means a lot.
Think happy thoughts.

I got a question. Me and my friend just had a conversation about Case Closed (Detective Conan).

I have been thinking about purchasing the case closed box set http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00026L8HQ/qid=1097098425/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/102-4698386-6402568?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846 which right now I don't recall if it does or not include the sub as well.

Let me state that i'm not against dubbing. I don't think it's better then subbing of course. But I like to have both when I purchase a DVD. Because I feel dubbing and subbing both can add a differnt touch to the anime.

Anyways My friend usually a hardcore subbing, she actually likes both the subbed and she even likes the Dub of detective conan, and feels they did a good job with the dub.

Anyways the question I have is with that review that was put on Amazon about first disc has the first four episodes but then it skips to season 4.

My friend has not purchased this DVD, she is one to download instead of buy.
Myself instead I prefer to purchase them, rather then to download.

So i have been considering getting this set, but this story about disc one has the first four episodes but then it skips to season 4 really backs me off.

I figured what's on this DVD set is what is being shown on tv currently, But she says cartoon network has been showing the dubb in proper order as in the case with the sub's she downloaded.

So that review on amazon, is it correct? Cause it feels kinda strange that they would show them on tv in the correct order, but then release them on dvd and skip a few seasons.

Alright, here's the deal with the starter set.

It does indeed include Volume 1 of Season 1(the first four episodes) and Volume 1 of Season 4(episodes 53-55). Funimation decided to pull a marketing gimmick and release Season 4 at the same time the first three seasons are running on Cartoon Network. The entirety of the first three seasons will get released on DVD eventually but they are releasing Season 4 first.

While mildly annoying, the series is generally episodic anyway. As long as you know who the major characters are up to that point in the show(most of which get introduced in the first four episodes anyway,) you should be fine.

It does include the sub, with the original character names, so that shouldn't be a problem. A few things I read listed a few minor odd problems regarding the openings/endings, but I don't know a lot about that one as I don't have the volumes. But I've done a lot of research.

Thanks for explaining it to me. I'm kinda annoyed that they released the 4th season before releasing season 2 and 3, but I guess it can't be helped.

Has what CN shown so far only been season 1? Surely not. I believe I've counted roughly 50 episodes on CN. The season 4 disc starts with episode 53. It would seem to me then, that their logic for releasing season four now would be for those (like me) who have already seen the first 50 episodes and want something new.

I can understand the annoyance of those who like things in order though. Personally, I'm longing to see the episodes where Harley/Hattori becomes a regularly appearing character.

I think it's only been the first season so far on AS.Curiously enough in what appears to have been the season finale Jimmy does temporarily return to
normal. He figures it had to do with some combination of alcohol that he somehow ended up taking during the course of the episode. The effects
were short term and in the end when Rachel catches him trying to
redo whatever got him back to normal by using Richard's whiskey she
gives him a big scolding on the uses of alcohol.

If Conan does ever return to normal permanently the one character I would feel sorry for is Amy 'cause she has that big old crush on him.

Really? 50 episodes in the first season? Hmmm. but then, season four starting with episode 53 doesn't make sense. Does anyone know for sure?

By the way, mitsuki lover, I did see that season finale. That was pretty good, for whatever season it was.

Well, how they are doing it in America is apparantly:

Case 1: Episodes 1-19
Case 2: Episodes 20-37
Case 3: Episodes 38-52
Case 4: Episodes 53-67

I think they shortened the seasons actually from what they were in Japan, since in Japan, from what I've understood, the seasons were generally seperated based on opening animations/songs.
Opening 3 starts at episode 53 or 54. Or at least, it was originally supposed to. I'm not sure what they have done on the English DVDs.
Does all that make any sense?

In other news, I picked up the first Conan manga the other day. Name changes aside, I think Viz did a pretty decent job with the release. They even left in an extra at the end called Gosho Aoyama's Mystery Library where the manga-ka apparantly talks about different mystery characters/series like Sherlock Holmes.

Thanks, MasterDias, that does make more sense.

Yeah, the Manga are $9.95 US each. The first one contains the events of episodes 1-4, I believe.

Does anyone already know the synopsis of the episodes on the next Case 4 DVD, The Desperate Truth? As much as I'd like to, I can't afford to buy every single DVD released. I'd prefer to collect mainly those which deal with Jimmy Kudo's primary objectives... (keeping his ID secret and catching the men in black). If you know, could you PM me and give me just a brief run down? Thanks.

good show overall, just wish that like so many other cartoons shown on cartoon network, they'd finish up the series, they ended it with conan maybe finding a way to get big again, but then they started it back over again, so frustrating..... :bang:

As has been previously stated, the series is well over 300 episodes and still running in Japan. It is rather impossible for Cartoon Network or anyone to finish it up...

Over 300 episodes!?!?!? Those Japanese companies know how to drag out a series. All Conan really does is solve a murder mystery in each episode. Not that I'm bashing the show, I actually enjoy watching it. But I guess I shouldn't be too surprised about the length of the series. Sailor Moon is 200 episodes long and it looks like they are just now trying to wrap up the Dragonball Z series (It seems like that series has been around forever).

There is rumor that Gosho Aoyama (Detective Conan Creator) is wrapping up the series. I can't remember where I heard that, but even if it's true, it'll take a while for the last episodes to reach our shores. *sigh*

Is Case Closed on CN?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Currently, yes. Mon-Thurs, 1 a.m. I don't know how much longer it will be on though. Sadly, I don't think it's been popular enough. Some people in the Adult Swim forum were clamoring for more Inuyasha instead. (bleh).

Don't know. If they get an empty slot, maybe they'll rerun it. I doubt they'll ever have new episodes though. I miss it too. :waah!: The only good thing to come of it is that I get to bed earlier now.

Looking forward to the next DVD release: Like old Times on Nov. 23.
Judging from the preview on the previous DVD, it should be a good one.
