Looking for ideas/help with homework?

Postby Jaltus-bot » Wed Sep 29, 2004 3:09 pm

Hi,
I have this homework assignment I need to do on goal setting. This is one of the questions.

"Do you believe in a power higher than yourself (i.e. a Supreme Being of God)? Please explain your beliefs in sentence format."

Now, by explain, do you think that is what I believe about God or why I believe in God?

Any ideas on beginning level jobs for economics majors?

(Yes, I did procastinate this too much. It's entirely possible to do in one afternoon and still do some of my typing homework.)

Sounds to me like the answer should be a summary of WHAT you believe including elements of WHY as they pertain to the subject.

Thank you. What I have so far basically includes large parts of the Apostles creed and then I was going to finish that off as a paragraph and then do a short paragraph saying a little bit about why.

See, I'd be tempted to make it more personal. Anyone can go find the creed, but I'd maybe have a go at describing God in terms of what it really means to you as an individual - what He offers, brings, requires, and perhaps less the finer points of theology. Assuming you don't go to a solidly Christian school, what you'll probably get from everyone else is their own viewpoint based on their feelings and imaginings and on what they think makes sense. I'd be tempted to try to present the Christian God in terms that might be more familiar or accessible to them, rather than an established historical document.

Just a thought.

I should start with why then.

Not necessarily - I meant instead of saying I believe in one God existing eternally in three persons....etc

Speak along the lines of I believe in a divine spiritual being who created the universe and created it with human beings as the pinnacle of that creation. I believe that that being is personal and created the human race with the purpose of...
God/He desires to...
Wants me to...
Gives me/promises me...

Kind of thing...???

Yeah. Your teacher has probably read the apostles creed a million times. Something new is probabaly going to get you more points than something he/she may perceive as plagurizing...

Perhaps you may want to start off with an explination of why you think different people believe (in a supreme being). Depending on how long this is supposed to be, you cold tangent on different things, and then show how your believe is slightly different from other people's.

edit: Or just go with one of your 1,000 tales!
