So I don't de-rail another thread...

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Ashley » Sun Sep 26, 2004 7:29 pm

Yes, as I said, last time I this via PM you warned me for being "stubron"

If you were called "stubborn" in this supposed last PM (that I have NO recollection of whatsoever, so I'm probably being quoted out of context anyway) it was most likely because you refused to listen to what is being said to you.

Oh I did move on, its just hard when you see reminders about it. Just like I did today.

To put it quite bluntly, you sure aren't acting like it. You sounded like you were full of grudges and seeking reparations--and if that's not the way you intended, again perhaps you ought to spend more time preparing your posts.

And no domination clashing? That could be the same about the saint's thread. And Ash, you could've given a warning just like you gave the thread today.

Again, it comes down to the call of the moment; which however unfair it may seem to you is not up to you to decide. At that time and place, I decided your sabbeth thread was more of a threat/more volitile (sp?) than the death/pact one.

I'm sorry Tweb isn't as friendly as this place but as I stated we're simply not cut out to be your Christianity Q&A place.
Thats fine, just make it the same for everyone.

Again, that's a judgement call I and my staff make, not you. We will judge what threads are too touchy for this place and what threads are not.

As we have advised you in the past, speaking with a voice of gentility and being open to others opinions would greatly decrease the number of threads you start that end up closed.
And how was that not being done in the sabbeth thread?

A lack of gentility had NOTHING to do with why your thread was closed, if you would pay attention to what I just told you about it. The sabbath thread was closed because it was deemed too denomination specific/too nitty gritty for these threads, not because of any narrow-mindedness you had.

Vyse... I can purely understand what you're saying, and I don't agree with the people flamming you in this thread... and I don't agree to why ur threads are being closed. I feel u've put up a good point... BUT, I've learned that we can't be right all the time, or have everything good all the time. Ashley said so herself in the "would u make a pact with Satan for life" forum,
Ashley wrote:Call me pessimistic, but this life is hard. There are moments of joy and fun...
Anyways, I've also learned to listen and follow people in charge of things like these. Not to suck up, (well ok that's one reason ;)) but because for one, they CREATED the place so they should know what they're doing, and 2, they often know more about what's going on than we do and they often know more about why something should, will, and has happened.

Oh no this isn't out of context at all, can I have your permission to post it? It feels like I'm being told not to PM you if I'm going to disagree with what the outcome is because thats what it felt like.
To put it quite bluntly, you sure aren't acting like it. You sounded like you were full of grudges and seeking reparations--and if that's not the way you intended, again perhaps you ought to spend more time preparing your posts
.

Hmmm.... how should I put this, it just opened some old wounds.

Again, it comes down to the call of the moment; which however unfair it may seem to you is not up to you to decide. At that time and place, I decided your sabbeth thread was more of a threat/more volitile (sp?) than the death/pact one.

And once again no one was fighting. Even a mod posted in that thread, there was no problem WHAT so ever.

Again, that's a judgement call I and my staff make, not you. We will judge what threads are too touchy for this place and what threads are not.

Then I ask you to look over your requirments to make them more fair.

A lack of gentility had NOTHING to do with why your thread was closed, if you would pay attention to what I just told you about it. The sabbath thread was closed because it was deemed too denomination specific/too nitty gritty for these threads, not because of any narrow-mindedness you had.

My mistake then, I thought you were using that as a reason. And like Staci I do bring up the parton saint's thread because saints are a fundemental disagreement between dominations.

Yes! Thats exactly what I've we can't always agree but that doesn't mean people argue. I agree totally with what Ashley said in the pact thread, I just wish that was applied to other situations.

EireWolf never flamed Vyse - enough said. Let's not mistake a mature person speaking the truth with flaming.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Staci wrote:On the flipside, the thread about everyone's "Patron Saint" was left open. (Considering not every part of Christianity believes in the Saints, that's a little bit more volatile than the Sabbath, in my humble opinion.)

I'm afraid I have to disagree (leaving aside denominational issues), the two threads were of substantially different character. The one regarding the sabbath was about one should do, which is the sort of thing that can flare up if someone feels that they are being told what to as a Christian. Not that that was happening mind you, but I suppose that the mods felt the potential was too great.

The 'Patron Saints' thread on the other hand was simply asking the question as to which particular saint members felt closest to. There was no implication that one ought to agree with the idea either in the question itself or elsewhere in the thread.

At least that's how I see the mod's reasoning on this regard.
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

Vyse, I don't know how old you are, but you're acting like a child here. Get over it.

He's making a legitimate complaint, not trying to plan some message board mutiny or pine for sympathy. Nor is he trying to villify anyone. Apparently more "mature" methods of getting in touch with the administration and getting some fair treatment via PM or email are of no help. If it were me in this situation, I too would feel the need to publically set a few things straight.

If it got to this point, some of the mods might want to start asking *themselves* why, as opposed to riding the moral high horse on every issue.

Yes, posting rights on CAA are a privledge, but do remember this board was made with the members in mind. We all share common beliefs and goals, and if one of us is feeling even the slightest bit unjustly hated or singled out, something is most definitely wrong and something most definitely needs to be resolved.
Beyond all these things put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity.

I suppose that that may have been a possibility, but you'd best take it up with the mods. Like I said, what I wrote was strictly how I interpreted the matter.

Ugh... so much... negativity... I don't want to add to any of it. I believe that considering how huge the CAA community is, the moderators [who are human] are doing an excellent job of keeping CAA as pleasant as possible. Regardless of who's at fault here, the thing I do know is that these are the people in charge and they are the ones who make the rules. It really bugs me when the people in charge are the ones taking the most flak from everybody. These people are in charge for a reason.

Ashley is very mature in everything she says and does, and the staff were carefully picked to carry out the tasks that are given to them, specifically, to make sure that everything here is kept in order so fellow Christians who enjoy similar interests can be together and fellowship. But they have to make sure that everything is kept in order. I have seen massive fights start on other message boards where people were literally at each others throats because nobody could agree. And you know what? Some of them even started out as innocent as the 'Sabbath' thread. One mainreason this board is so friendly is because the mods are strict about everything said around here. They use foresight and planning ahead to make sure that a fight doesn't even have a chance to start.

Now, if you don't feel like it's fair, your entitled to your opinion. This is their board and they are the ones calling the shots, not us and it's only fair for us to abide by their guidelines. To be honest, I don't neccesarily agree with everything the mods may do, however, I've learned to simply suck it up and go with the flow. Their have probably been a few times when I immaturily popped off without thinking and gotten corrected myself, but you know what? When I got corrected, I apologized and forgot all about it. Then I went on my merry way.

Even if I don't agree with everything the mods do and say, I still have to respect them, because I am simply a guest and this is their board. It's not worth getting upset over something like this. Again, the most mature thing you can do is take it to PM's, and avoid posting something like this in public. It doesn't matter how civil you are being or not, threads like this don't exactly do anything to further your image.

And I am sorry if you are being targeted, if you feel anyone holds something against you, the best thing you can do is go to prayer for them. Although I seriously doubt 99% of the people here would hold any grudge against you. I will admit, you have said things in the past that I seriously disagree with, but I never bashed you for them. Heck, I never said anything. You're entitled to your beliefs and I respect that, and it is good that you are willing to stand up for them. However, you need to respect others beliefs too. Your opinions are not universal, as neither are mine, Ashley's, or anyone else's on this board.

Let me finish by making this clear again: Nobody here hates you - but the mods have to do their jobs regardless. They have their reasons, and a lot of times people in charge tend to see things that us normal people don't even realize. Even if we disagree, we still need to respect their decisions and support our leaders. Because leaders have to put up with a LOT. I am very happy about the creation of this board. The people here are great, and I love everyone here. Ashley and the mods have truly done a great job here, quite frankly this is literally the only message board on the whole internet that I can truly say that this is my home and my family. So let's all get along, okay?

*glomps all* i love all you guys, please dont argue anymore...

vyse, i know some people here have hurt you (in particular ashley), but i'm sure that wasnt her intention. people mess up and hurt other people without even realizing it. i know i'm guilty of that. i know i've even hurt you before and didnt realize it. please vyse, let go of this, forgive, and forget. please realize that ashley and the other staff are the authority here, and all of us have to respect their authority. i really believe they're doing their best. since ya know me vyse, ya know that in no way i mean this to be a flame or an attack on you.

vyse is a good friend of mine, he is NOT troll. he's a really awesome brother in Christ who's always been there for me, no matter what. He's not the type of person to just randomly pick fights w/ the mods and go public with it unless he had a good reason for it. please try and understand where he's comming from, regardless whether you agree with him or not.

So please guys, can we all forgive eachother? i hate to see something like this breaking up our CAA family, because all throughout the thread people are taking sides, and its splitting our family up :(

i love all you guys. *Glomp*

::applause:: Yes, precisely what Lynx said. How about a group hug and then some tea and crumpets together, yes?

When you find yourself in the company of a halfling and an ill-tempered
Dragon, remember, you do not have to outrun the Dragon...
...you just have to outrun the halfling.
