I have an idea how we can all talk voice to voice!

Talk about anything in here.

c.t. girl, I've already asked you (and others) to knock off all the spam posts, saying the same thing over and over. I mean it -- there's no need to keep bumping this thread. People can see it perfectly well already.

All right, what you need is:

1. A fair Linux, Mac, or Windows based computer.

2. Speakers

3. Microphone

4. Internet Connection (Broadband is preferred)

Finally you need to download this spiffy little program called "Skype" and it's Free. I like Free, don't you? Anyways, then you need to register, which is free, of course. Now, the thing that costs money is the Computer to Phone, but the Computer to Computer is free and what we're doing.

Here's the link:

http://www.skype.com/

And it works on Windows, Mac, and Linux! ^_^

Anyways, it’s kinda’ like MSN, AIM, and all those, except you speak and not type (though, you can send IMs through this program.)

Here's the system requirements for Windows:

-PC running Windows 2000 or XP
- 400 MHz processor
- 128 MB RAM
- 10 MB free disk space on your hard drive
- Sound Card, speakers and microphone
- Internet Connection (either dial-up: minimum 33.6 Kbps modem, or any
broadband: cable, DSL, etc.)

I’ve got to go dig through my closest for my headset…. I’ll check back later today to see who’s interested.

Btw, My screenname on Skype is: link_antilles

Post your screennames when your ready, so we all can get to chatting. ^_^

Uhh I got a better idea...

Get TeamSpeak.

Much better than Skype, and no registration is required. Although someone needs to be hosting.

Nah, it's better. It's a program and it connects by an IP address of the host. We can talk over in voice.

You mean Ventrilo?
I have that too, it's goood butn the sound quality's not the same, and you need to aheva server.

I use Teamspeak for my gaming clan. But we'd have to have a server for that meaning someone would have to fork over some cash.

You don't need a dedicated server for teamspeak, just a computer that acts as a server in a technical sort of meaning. If someone with, say, cable internet or reasonably fast dsl and a computer that is always on (like Mr. Smartypants (christiananime.net), for example...) wanted to host a server, they could just post the IP address and we could connect through their computer. The load wouldn't really be all that much, teamspeak is designed to work with online games, so it's very efficient about how it uses its bandwidth.
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Sorry to grave dig, but this is important...

For those of you that don't have a microphone, I found out something incredibly awesome today that can allow you to chat on Skype.

All you need for this to work is a set of ordinary headphones, and a microphone port on your computer (one that resembles a headphone jack). Just plug your headphones into the microphone jack, and you should be able to use them as a microphone!

How do I know? I know this, because I tried it earlier today ;) . And if you don't believe me, just try it for yourself.

I'm guessing that a lot more of you have headphones than have microphones/headsets, so this is a great way to participate in the Skype chats :) .

If you don't mind lousy quality, this works fine. And, you have to speak into the headphones like they were a mic (up close). It *works* but it's not all that great. This is how I used to digitize stuff back in the day, and it really does lend credence to the old adage: You get what you pay for.

Just fyi...

My computer does have a microphone but a long time ago I had ended up removing an important set of drivers that make it work and well.....I can't download them since there wasn't a site that offered the microphone to me, it was already built within the PC.
