Spring is my favorite because of the warm, yet cool breezes. It’s great to go out with a jacket on and enjoy the green grass and the budding trees after a long winter. Everything seems fresh and new again and the noises of the spring are music to my ears. Then the thunderstorms of tornado season roll in in all of their glory. To watch a big storm roll in over the lake, what a fantastic display to shame any Fourth of July celebration.
Summer is my favorite because of the blue skies and green trees. I love to watch the wind shake the branches and hear the sound it makes as it blows across a grassy field. It brings back some of the best feelings and emotions of childhood to me. The feeling of the warm sun on my face, driving with my windows down and my AC on, picnics, swimming in the lake, all say summer to me.
Autumn is my favorite because of the changing of the trees as the leaves of the great deciduous forests of the East change into a marvelous spectrum of autumnal colors. The smell of the air is unique to this time of year, sweet, and yet it is the smell and those are the colors of decay - a harbinger of the season to come.
Winter is my favorite because of cold nights in front of a fire and a wondrous world covered in a fluffy blanket of white. As horrible as the weather can be and as dangerous as it can be to be out in it, there is a simple, clean beauty to a tree, devoid of leaves, yet marvelously covered in a shimmering coating of ice. Also, the winter is very quiet. To stand out in a snow covered meadow in the morning is amazing. The cold air stings a little as you draw it in and it sounds as if all of creation is in a sleepy, breath taking silence.
