Argh! Pad Just Broke

I've been having some problems lately with the pen to my drawing pad.
The spring was doing something wierd and wouldn't go on the battery so I've had to take the pen apart and adjust it so that it would work every time I used it. Well, this time when I went to fix it again, I put the spring on the battery and closed the pen, and CRUNCH! I opened up the pen and the head with the spring on it completely broke off of the pen! I have an Aiptek pad and the pen won't work without this part...the only problem is, they don't sell it individually because it's supposed to be connected to the pen itself.
My mom tried to fix it by shoving all the parts in there and screwing on the lid but that didn't work either.
My dad was really bummed because he bought it for me for Christmas a couple of years ago...

Yes, I named my pad. ^^;;

So does this mean I have to get a new pen? Is that even possible?
What should I do?

Yes, I think you're going to need a new pen.

Or, you might consider something like the Wacom Graphire2. These are pretty cheap, and come with a pen and cordless mouse. It connects over USB; because the pen and mouse use inductance, they never require batteries; it's also touch sensitive; and it works with Windows and Macintosh (both MacOS 9 and OS X).
