The cure for the common cold! (And flu!)

Assuming this DOES work, however, if the mass public were to find out about a simple cure like this, the pharmicutical (sp?) industry would LOSE a lot of money due to the fact that people wouldn't be purchasing their (ineffective) "cold remedy" products. I say 'ineffective' since cold/flu drugs only cover up the symptoms, NOT heal them.

I REALLY don't trust opinions from doctors since, if I'm not mistaken, they make more money depending on how many prescriptions they write. Therefore, a doctor most likely WOULDN'T support a simple home remedy like hydrogen peroxide.

Let me state I don't hate doctors, I just don't trust anything they say, since there are far too many greedy ones out there.

There are unscrupulous physicians, same as there are in any business, but I can tell you without a doubt my salary doesn't depend on the patients I see, the medications I write for them or the tests I order for them. Because my job is based on patient satisfaction at the particular medical center I work for, it behooves me to do the best job I can for them.

Even in capitated health systems where medical insurance or Medicare pays off a fixed rate at so much per diagnosis, this only has to do with compensation for diagnostic testing. There's no kickbacks from the pharmaceutical companies for writing name-brand medications, and in fact such arrangements are *illegal*.

I suggest you put your very broad brush away and do a little more research before issuing blanket insults like that.

My apologies. I've had bad experiences with doctors in the past. I'm not implying you are a bad doctor, I believe the contrary actually, I just got slightly agitated.

My my, that was certainly an interesting read. I'll avoid making any kind of psycosematic post here, as that could influence people's perceived results of this procedure.


But I do have one question. IS there any prescription that can be written for the common cold? I was under the impression they hadn't developed a cure for that yet.

The only prescription that I've ever written for what we euphemistically refer to as an "upper respiratory infection" is usually high-dose guaifenesin or dextro, or sometimes Phenergan + codeine if the cough is really nasty. There's no specific antiviral like, say, ribavirin for RSV, for example.

doctors memorize the medicines and do the diagnosis, not the nurses. Though becoming a nurse does require a lot of studing.
