Is there ANYONE here that doesn't, hasn't, and never will homeschool???

After learning that a lot of members here have been homeschooled at some point in their life I just gotta ask the question:

Am I the only one that went to a public school?! :mutter:

no offence but i don't like the catholic religion. it just didn't seem to go with the bible, it seemed like they were trying to change it. at least that's what the catholic schools that i went to showed me. (st. joachim and mdhs) plus at these schools i felt like i wasn't getting fed spiritually.

Easy now. We have several Catholics on this site, and I really would rather not see this degrade into a renewal of the Thirty Years War, or resemble the warzone in Northern Ireland. Get the idea? It's fine to have an opinion, but please try to be respectful of others on this site. For now I won't close this thread but I will ask that everyone please remain on topic, civil, and courteous so I don't have to.

On a side note, I was homeschooled a little while myself but I went to public school from 6th grade through high school and now to a state university.

I was not homeschooled, and that option was generally not available in the era that I went to school in. I will also say that about the most startling infraction that ever happened throughout my public school education was gum chewing in class; we did not have problems with weapons; we did not have clothing that was banned due to gang activity. The athletes did pick on the nerds a little, and we did have an occasional out-of-school fight, but that was about the size of it. My children also attend public school, but it is an entirely different world they are facing now.

No offense huh...well I'll just say that I am offended by that. You already pointed out your ignorance, because you forget that Catholics are Christians like any other denomination and not some other seperate "religion" by the way you put it.

I've been to public schools all my life so the concept of homeschooling was terribly foreign to me until I met the Chloe household.

I am who I am partially as a result of public education and gee, it doesn't seem that bad. LOL Yes, public education worked out for me very well. My 8-year-experience of being a prefect/school monitor was particularly valuable.

I've always gone to public schools, and the college that I now attend is a state (public) university.

I will say that some independent study is almost a necessity in order to get a quality education out of public school, but that doesn't have to involve homeschooling.

Golden_Griff, I have always been in the public education system. Georgia Tech is a public institution, and I intend to end my education with a Master's degree from there.

I hope you feel a bit more secure now.

i"ve been in th epublic school system my entire school career and i'm also attending a public college. I dont think I could ever be homeschooled. Despite the fact that I'm naturally a anti-social person, I enjoyed public school and don't think I could miss seeing my friends that I only see at school.

I went to public school for almost a year in 2nd grade and then went for one class in 7th and 8th grade while homeschooling. I didn't like the public school in second grade. The middle school I went to partially in 7th and 8th was okay. I really liked the teacher for the class I went to in 8th (Spanish). He was pretty cool! ^_^ But the reason I don't really like public schools is because you are surrounded by atheistic theories and behavior. I'd much rather be taught Christian beliefs.

Same with me, except for I'm taking a short break from college for the moment. I agree with your comment about independent study, too.

Ever since around 5th grade, I wanted to be homeschooled. I wasn't very social before high school and even then I had a difficult time. I'm way too self-conscious. I always had bad experiences with P.E. classes, too. I hated the state requirements. In junior high, if you couldn't run a mile under a certain time limit, they lowered your P.E. grade. I couldn't always get the mile under the time (my leg has problems when i run). In high school, I wasn't athletic, either. P.E. was really tough for me because I was so self-conscious.
Every year, many times a year, I would ask my mom to homeschool me the next year. She always refused.

I learned from public schools, but what I learned was about people and social things, not really the educational stuff. Except for math, I could have easily (and often did) learned most of that from reading on my own, watching educational tv programs, and the Internet.

I had a few good friends in high school, so I'm glad that I attended where I did.

yes i understand that but to me it is a great whitnessing opertunity which in my school is desperatly needed i and about two to three others are the only christiand in the school.
