Good anime

The only good decend animes I've seen are as follows
Angelic Layer-beautiful animation; focuses all round the competition though.
DragonBall-brief nudity here and there but it is hilarious; I don't like Z cause of the drug use in the Jap. version
Digimon-need I say more?
Flint the Time Detective-cute!
Cardcaptor Sakura-good little story
Rockman EXE (Megaman NT warrior)-based off battle network games excellent little anime.

Tidus, please state why -- no recommendations without justification (see the last couple pages, or even better still, read the first page and the original post that started this whole thing).

Postby Xavier249 » Sat Jun 05, 2004 9:01 pm

I'll start with one good anime.

.hack//sign

Negative reasons it is good: (the none of this none of that)
1. Pretty much devoid of violence, except for occasional video game violence. No blood, No Gore, nada.
2. No Nudity unless you can call the little "Falling apart" sequence that shows up in the opening song nudity. In that case there is very mild nudity.

Positive reasons it is good: (The this the that)
1. The characters Mimiru and Bear spend the majority of the series helping a "lost soul", Tsukasa.
2. Bear seeks to be a good father.
3. Tsukasa is a dejected child (sorry can't say more without spoiling) seeking healing.
4. Mimiru goes to repent her ditching of A-20 (is that a spoiler?)
5. Subaru and Crim constantly are talking of being brave despite ones surroundings.
6. The music is awesome and has some interesting themes
7. Working together towards a goal is prevalent

Negatives: (This is in here but not good.)
1. Sora is annoying, but you gotta love him. :eyebrow:
2. There is talk of unplugging someone in a vegetative state.
3. Some of the characters are particularly deceptive.
4. Mimiru and Subaru aren't wearing the most appropriate clothing. The top half is a bikini part.

Does that help? I tried to come up with anything off the top of my head.

I'll mention another series in the future hopefully.

I really enjoyed Fushigi Yugi too, but warning: unfortunately there is a cross-dressing homosexual character in it,

Seen pictures of who you're talking about: it's a boy who wears a dress and whose name means "graceful beauty". 0_0x

I honestly didn't know there were fortune telling cards in Hamtaro, but Japan's main religion is Shinto/buddhism combination, and I think that a kid's everyday life in Japan is more spiritually dangerous than the Fortune telling in Hamtaro... Well, not more, but equal.

'Twas only in one episode though, "A Fortune Comes True."

And all and all you're just another brick in the wall

Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks

Another good anime

Postby Xavier249 » Tue Jun 08, 2004 3:26 pm

Magic Knight Rayearth TV series Season 1

Positives:
1. Fuu is my favorite Bishoujo. . . . not helpful, right? . .
2. The story focuses a lot on Friendships
3. Mokona is cute. . . *jumps up and down from too much green tea*
4. Umm Cute. . . all around . . . . .
5. Did I mention Friendships?
6. The good ones even befriend their enemies.
7. Umi, Fuu, and Hikaru put emphasis on their families.

Pos/Neg not sure
1. There is fighting but it is not gorey though there is blood.
2. Mokona's Pu! Pu! Pu! never stops
3. There is some romance between Fuu and . . .
4. Magic is there but it comes from the heart not the occult.
5. "Rune Gods" or "Mashin" is that really an accurate translation?
6. That everthing in Cephiro is governed by "the pillar"

Negatives
1. Maho-shoujo transformations when they get new armor
2. Presea's loose fitting floaty stuff when she makes weapons
3. Caldina's chest jiggles. . . very scary.
4. Alciones swimsuit-like armor
5. The fighting that occurs in every episode almost could be a negative.
6. Caldina's swimsuit armor. Why do the bad guys all wear swimsuits?

Overall I really like this season. Just a warning though, the Tv series adds a lot more than what happens in the manga.

Although your posts have been fine and the series sound reasonable, just as a general note, this thread is primarily focused on good anime, where good = anime just about anyone can watch without concerns over content. While the negatives that you've mentioned don't strike me as something most people would find problematic, I just want to make sure we don't get series with stuff that people *would* have a problem with ^_^

I'm been trying to be mister ultra nit-picky(me) so that even the slightest thing would get mentioned. I honestly consider Rayearth to be a very clean series, I just want them aware of the little things. (I think little mermaid is worse that rayearth, but thats just me.) Next time I will pick a better series. :) Sorry for worrying you.

I strongly recommend Kino no Tabi (in case nobody has said this before me, I'll give the pros and cons too)

Pros:
Each episode is a completely different world to immerse yourself in.
Detailed characters.
Incredible animation style.
Not "risque" at all, nor are females drawn out of proportion.
Stories that really make you think.

Cons:
A few of the episodes do get a bit graphic, there is one gun fight and in another episode a knife is plunged into someone's chest and pulled out again, showing blood.
Subjects of some of the stories may be above 13 viewing age as they depict aspects of humanity at their lowest (Manipulation, slave trade, cannibalism...etc.)

Please (I'm a real broken record here -- does anyone read old posts in a thread?), no posts here without justification. See the very first post (or even Sieg's post right above yours), and model accordingly. This isn't a top ten thread or a "best anime series is" thread.

a lot of people aready mentioned the anime I think is pretty innocent but good.
I don't know if anyone posted Kino's Journey so I will. I just got the 4th dvd and I think it is a good scifi/action anime. Kino is atraveler, and as she travels to each town she finds a new story. (some more innocent then others) She does carry weapons to protect herself though. One Piece is also another great action-comedy-adventure anime. Luffy wants to be the pirate king so he sets out to find a crew, and the treasure one piece.

Yeah, I don't feel like looking thru 22 pages of stuff. I only have a dial-up (bleh). So if any of my suggestions are elsewhere, oh well.
First I recommend Ai Yori Aoshi. Not too much cursing, and there is quite a bit of fan service and maybe a little bit of nudity but it's not too bad. Although Tina (the American chick) has a bad habit of grabbing other womens' breasts when she meets them. Otherwise it's a very sweet, touching anime. Even my gun-toting, sadistic psychopathic friend liked it. It's sad, it's funny...and Aoi is about the cutest, most perfect girl in the world. What guy wouldn't want her for a wife?
Fushigi Yugi is another of my favorites. There is a bit of violence and lots of people dying. Also most of the near-end deals with Miaka having to stay a virgin, and the bad guys trying to take advantage of that, and unfortunately Nuriko and Tomo are gay...but Nuriko gets kinda better near the end. If you can't deal with that you should probably stay away, but I like it a lot. Chichiri is the man! And Eikoden is one of the few shows/movies that made me cry at the end...uh, that doesn't make me any less of a man, does it?
Oh yeah and Ranma...'cuz it's hilarious!

I am a big fan of Inuyasha so there you go that is what I would call a good anime.

I have seen many different ones and that is my fav.
Some of the anime I have seen are the following:

Inuyasha (duh)
Pokemon (hated it)
Digimon (same)
Escaflowne (awesome)
Dragonball (cool)
Dragonball Z (strange and bizzare)
Yu Yu Hakusho (like the story)
Ranma (funny)
Love Hina (*&*^& how can people like that!)
Big O (interesting)
Kikaider (weird but interesting)
Crest of the Stars (cool)
Tenchi Muyo (whats with the sword...)
Rourouni Kenshin (liked it sometimes and others not sure)
And many more I forgot I am sure..... :mutter:
 :hits_self
Monks of Luna unite or :bang: that will happen.

Hi, it's the broken record. Could you explain *why* you like the series? Look at the very first post for an example of how posts should be to this thread. This is not a thread for top-ten lists and the like (got too many of those).

To the Mods,

I have just spent over an hr reading this thread. I thot it was supposed to be Good anime? Instead, I read about Berserk[rape, graphic violence, demons, etc], Ai Yori Aoishi[fan service up the wazoo, and the couple IS NOT married], etc and then people just posting what they like, nothing to do with anything about why a Christian should\could watch it. Could you clean it up? Delete posts that are inappropriate or not descriptive of why it is good? That sort of thing. Specially since this is a "stickied" thread. I was really disappointed in the overall tone of this thread and disappointed by what people were boldly recommending. So there you have my opinion. And please delete this post too if you clean this thing up....

Thanks....
