Best/Worst Movie Endings?

TV, Movies, Sports...you can find it all in here.

I suppose I wasn't quite fair with that remark. In the last shot of Ocean's Eleven, the viewer does see two of the bad guy's henchmen following the car of Danny Ocean, his wife, and his best friend.

I do wish that good guys would be a little more glorified though. There aren't many movies like Spiderman and the LOTRs...

This is true, and most likely it's a sad reflection on the heart of America for one, the world in general for another.

Right and Wrong seems to have gotten a bit muddied, or maybe we've just gotten away from Virtues as a society.

The worst movie endings
The return of the king. It took 45 minutes! The rest of the movie was great.
Event Horizon. No wait. The whole movie sucked. except for the concept.
Jurrassic park 3. Different director + not written by Micheal Chrichton= Crappy movie.
The Day After Tomorrow. The ending was stolen from Jurrasic Park 1,2, and 3.
The hulk. The whole movie sucked.

Best movie endings.
Spiderman 1 and 2
Batman. not the 2, 3, or 4
The star wars movies. the originals, the new ones aren't considered movies.
All but the last ailien movies.
Full Metal Jacket.
Saving Private ryan.
Dawn of the dead. One of the best movies of all time.
Army of darkness, one of the best movies of all time.

Most movies I've seen have pretty good endings, but here's my worst list:

Holy Grail (ok, it's a comedy and all but you'd THINK that they could've at least completed their quest!!)

X/1999 (....it just ended...)

THE PLEDGE
^^^^^^^^^^
Ok seriously, if you've ever seen this Jack Nicolson murder-mystery movie (came out a few years ago) it has THE WORST ENDING EVER!!!! It builds up to something and then uh oh! PITFALL! Go on, I DARE YOU to go rent it! It's good all the way through, but a bad ending can totally ruin a movie!

Good Endings...

"Dr. Strangelove" - Best. Ending. Ever.
"The Return of the King" - sure, it dragged on forever, but, the book was the same way. The movie was (mostly) true to the book. The book ending went on even longer. The "wars for the Shire" thing didn't make the movie because Peter Jackson didn't like that part of the book.
"The Matrix" - First movie only.

Worst Endings

"Waterworld" - but that whole movie was bad anyway.
"The Island of Dr. Moreau" (90s version) - like "Waterworld," the whole movie sucked.
"The Matrix Reloaded" - it left off a little "too cliffhanger" - even for something that's part of a trilogy. It should have had a slightly more "wrapped up" ending like the first movie did.
"The Matrix, Revolutions" - Um... it was nice ending, but... hardly realistic in the context of the world the trilogy was set in.
Sure Neo created harmony between Man and Machine but realistically the Machines should have won. I would have liked that ending.
Great Movie Endings:
Wit - Emma Thompson's brilliant masterpiece
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
In America
Dead Poet's Society
Oh Brother! Where Art Thou?

Terrible Movie Endings:
What Dreams May Come
The Butterfly Effect - saw it today... blah!! The ending is miserable!
City of Angels - Great soundtrack though...

Yes, that movie had a HORRIBLE ending! Do not watch it if you want to have any sort of feeling of happiness or contentment afterwards...

I LOVE that movie, and it does have a great ending, even if the movie itself is like 4 hours long!

Bad Endings:
Ella Enchanted
I liked the way that ended, with the singing and all, it was good!

Concerning your remarks, thalia:

Lagaan is nearly four hours, but it is a great film and I wasn't bored by any of it.

I liked Ella Enchanted as a movie, but the ending
when they all start dancing and she rips off her skirt to reveal a mini skirt was not the kind of ending I wanted, even the song they picked wasn't great.
Sis, you need to spoilerize that bit about the ending of Ella Enchanted. You can do that by writing [^SPOILER]put the text about the end here
, but without the ^.

sucky endings:

signs- geez, they really ruined it by showing the aliens and making them be hurt by water. seriously.

the bourne identity- the guy escapes to an island.... woohoo. (they're actually working on a sequel now, but still.)

best endings:

pee-wee's big adventure- "one foot-long"

I wondered whether I should spoilerize that part of my post, but I figured since the thread was the Best/Worst Movie Endings...anyway, thanks for confirming, Bhaiya!

Best ending:
Titanic (ended perfectly!)

one of the worst endings:

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (the lady spent all her time staying alive then when finally she's safe... SHE JUMPS OFF A BRIDGE ! What's up with that?!)

I would have to say that Monty Python and the search for the holy grail was the worst. But it was funny :D
