Pillar's cool, but I haven't heard much. I love Third Day...Jars of Clay (but I don't know if they are rock specifically). Actually all the ones I like are sorta alternative/rock. Should I still list them? oh well. :lickbash:

Excellent, I saw a Rush fan in there, and a few votes for Hendrix and Zepp.

Tack on: the Beatles, Pink Floyd (before 1973), Wings, Oingo Boingo, The Waiting, Switchfoot, (certain older albums of) Aerosmith, Styx, the Clash, Cheap Trick and Supertramp.

True, Division Bell is excellent. When I say "before 1973" I basically mean I don't like listening to anything after DSOTM (which is technically 1972) and before "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" (1987). "Wish You Were Here" is a good album, but depressing, and I grew out of "The Wall" (ditto for "Animals" and "The Final Cut") when I got over my teenage angst shtick (I can't listen to them anymore now, which all things considered is probably good).

Now, their earlier more-UFO style works are quite intriguing. Pick up "Atom Heart Mother" sometime at the shop for a 23-minute orchestral/rock fugue title track. It's stupendous. "Meddle" also has some exceptional pieces, including the hypnotic "One of These Days" from 1971 (Nick Mason's only vocal -- don't listen to it with the lights off ;) ). Their earliest, heavily psychedelic music is hard to generally recommend, but if you want something definitely unusual and original, find the "Relics" reissue which has a number of unreleased tracks and some of the better songs from their early offerings (including "Arnold Layne" and "Interstellar Overdrive").

Well i love Mortification and Tourniquet and Disciple. Third day is great too. But as far as secular music, i used to like to listen to Alice in chains, Sound garden, linkin park, and the greatest band secular or Christian anywere, to wich all bands fall short by miles...... Metalica.
Im still praying for them.

The only "rock" band I really like is Linkin Park, I guess, though they're not even pure rock... My favorite band, Waterdeep, is a Jam band... They do some rock stuff, like "Wicket Web" but most of it is very jazzy. I do like Beatles, sometimes...

[button=off topic]Way off topic, but GREAT AVATAR panegryst... I think it showed up first in Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. I love MG2:SS... Not the best in the series, but it was pretty revolutionary... Real emotional plots were normally restricted to fantasy stories like Final Fantasy or Ninja Gaiden. Solid Snake, like Metal Gear Before it, paved the way for many of todays games...[/button]

You want the short reply or the long one. Tell you what, if you read the first two paragraphs then thats the short reply. To continue...

I love music. I'll listen to anything as long as its not pop or r&b. And for all you pop music fans, yes there are other types of music apart from pop and rock. You have learnt something today...

Heres the long answer. I like:

AFI
Nirvana
The Mad Capsule Markets
Lost Prophets
Nightwish
Guns N' Roses
Incubus
Lacuna Coil
Linkin Park
System Of A Down
SPAN
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Bleach (the most rockinest girl-punk band in all of Okinawa!!)
Foo Fighters

They are my favourite bands.
I also like assorted stuff by:

Metallica
Greenday
Pillar
Thousand Foot Krutch
Miyavi
Iron Maiden
Distillers
Luna Sea
The Gimmies (need to buy their album!!)
Motorhead
Placebo
Papa Roach
Sum41 (ok, i usually don't like this type of 'punk' but sum41 are pretty gud)
Offspring (pre Splinter, and mostly the older stuff)
Tiger Army
Misfits
White Stripes (White Blood Cells is an amazing album)
Thin Lizzy
Tenacious D
Static X
Slipknot
Sex Pistols
Rammestein
POD (though only some of their stuff, Pillar are better)
Pitchshifter
Pantera (excellent band, may be a favourite when I buy an album)
Ozzy and Sabbath
Nightmare (the guitarist looks like a zombie...kool)
Marilyn Manson (though only some of his stuff, hes not as kool as he thinks he is)
Korn (a few songs)
Kovenant (Mirrors Paradise, wicked song)
Janes Addiction (again, only a few songs)
Ill Nino
Kill Switch Engaged
HIM
Hives (I know very few people that like them)
Godsmack (not sure bout the name though)
Iggy Pop
Disturbed (don't like the big pentagram logo though)
CKY (Not heard too much though)
Audioslave
Alice Cooper
Atreyu (mosh alert, mosh alert)
The Adverts (an old punk band, very kool)
Dreamtheater
Queens of the stoneage (i like what i've heard, which isn't much)
Muse (these would be a favourite if I had an album by them, they rock soooo much)
Spank The Monkey (good blues band)
Buddy Guy (in his 70s but still rockin)

And that about raps it up, I've no doubt forgotten some but you can use your imagination right?

!!!AFI RULE!!!
