A Perfect Circle or Tool

Postby PumpkinKoRn52 » Tue Aug 10, 2004 9:35 am

If you like either of these bands, which oine do you like better. Personally, I like Tool better by way of music, not lyrics. A Perfect Circle has better lyrics. Let me know what you think. :thumb:
"Relax, turn around, and take my hand." Tool
"Heir Kommt Die Sonne." Rammestein
"Now the world is gone, I'm just one. Oh please God help me." Metallica
"Are You Ready?!?" KoRn
"All and all your just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd.
The downfall of society will be society itself.
Rap is the malignant tumor of the music industry.

I think they are both worldy bands. Maynard has some really messed up view about religion has even started his own. Alot of their lyrics diss christians. But hey they are great musicians though.... Even when i was in the world i didn't like them but respected them as musicians.

There stuff always seems to succede in sounding the same. Maynard is an angry bitter little man....Tool and APC are two of the few bands that I detest. How Christians can listen to Tool is beyond me....Look up the lyrics to Project 86s song Rebuttal. That was written to Maynard.

I particulary am not too fond of either one, I must say I favor Tool. Though I completely disagree with their subject matter, I must give them credit for being pretty good musicians.

The only Tool album I still have and its' somewhere buried in my closet is Aenima, the bass lines were just awesome in that album.

And what Project 86 album is that song you speak of, from Shatterheart?

Look up the lyrics to Project 86s song Rebuttal. That was written to Maynard.

Rebuttal off the Self Titled cd.

Edit: how bout I just post the songs lyrics....

Project 86-Rebuttal

Rebuttal
The innocence robbed at early stage
Bitterness allies for the cage
Pain gives birth to pain
And hope gets smudged with bloodstains
Despise yourself to swell with pride and think your hatred will win the prize
I smell a change with horizons
A face in your path now gone
It's an attempt to deny
You'd better find an alibi
Spit in the face of mercy and now the debt you owe will multiply
Blame everyone but yourself while your so-called arguments tow the line
A twofold edge of hate spills emotion that blinds the public eye
No claims to the life of a victim
Offenses a list of lost freedoms

Keep mocking
Keep mocking
Keep mocking to fill infectious lies
A bead of sweat drips cold from your brow and it's evident there's more to fear
Here's a response to that message of spite that you've clung tightly to for all these years...

The season is ripe for payback.

You don't want to face the fact that there's a debt to pay
Blame everyone but yourself
But be careful what you asked for
You've got your wish
With Judgment, with payback
Liar

You've got a lot of nothing to say
You've got allot of hate to spray
You've got allot of nothing to say
Yet your life is the meaning of temporary

To start things off, Tool and a perfect circle don't sound the same, and none of thier songs do. But other than that, I don't personally like some of the lyrics in tool or APC, escpecialy the first APC cd, but look at the lyrics to The Thirteenth Step cd, by APC. The cd is compiled of lyrics about how much drugs destroy people, how suicide is ridiculous, and how much crap people push to make you conform. I like both of the bands incredible musical abilities. You may hate maynard, and I do hate him as a person, but he is still an incredible singer. He has one of the best voices in the music industry today.

1. I don't hate the man at all, in fact I pray for him.
2. Most Tool songs sound the same...just because you like them...does not change this fact.
3. One semi upbeat album is a lousy reason to listen to CDs that mock Jesus dieing on the cross. If you are foolish enough to call me on this, I can censor some of there lyrics and post them...you know what im talking about.
4.When Justifying somthing that you know most other people will not agree with, expect flak. I listen to a lot of secular music...but anytime a singer adds lines like "get off that (censored) cross" I draw the line.

On second thought, lets go ahead and post some Tool lyrics...

Judith

You’re such an inspiration for ways that I will never ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your savior has abandoned you
**** your God your lord your christ he did this took all you had and left you
This way
Still you pray never stray never taste of the fruit never thought to question
Why
It’s not like you killed someone it’s not like you drove a hateful spear into
His side
Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed he did it all for you he
Did it all for you
Oh so many ways for me to show you how your dogma has abandoned you
Pray to your christ to your God never taste of the fruit
Never stray never break never choke on a lie
Even though he’s the one who did this to you never thought to question why
Not like you killed someone it’s not like you drove a spiteful spear into his
Side
Talk to jesus christ as if he knows the reasons
Why he did it all to you he did it all for you he did it all for you

Oh and another really deep moving song.

Eulogy

He had alot to say.
He had alot of nothing to say.
We'll miss him.

So long.
We wish you well.
You told us how you weren't afraid to die.
Well then, so long.
Don't cry.
Or feel too down.
Not all martyrs see divinity.
But at least you tried.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice that was strong and loud.
We'll miss him.
Ranting and pointing his finger
At everything but his heart.
We'll miss him.

No way to recall
What it was that you had said to me,
Like I care at all.

So loud.
You sure could yell.
You took a stand on every little thing
And so loud.

Standing above the crowd,
He had a voice so strong and loud and I
Swallowed his facade cuz I'm so
Eager to identify with
Someone above the ground,
Someone who seemed to feel the same,
Someone prepared to lead the way, with
Someone who would die for me.

Will you? Will you now?
Would you die for me?
Don't you ****** lie.

Don't you step out of line.
Don't you ******* lie.

You've claimed all this time that you would die for me.
Why then are you so surprised to hear your own eulogy?

You had alot to say.
You had alot of nothing to say.

Come down.
Get off your ****** cross.
We need the ****** space to nail the next fool martyr.

To ascend you must die.
You must be crucified
For your sins and your lies. [sic]
Goodbye...

I'm not a big tool fan at all, but I AM a big Project 86 fan and hearing that made me go order Project's self-titled album. >_>; Hopefully it'll be here in the next couple of days. I think the lyrics to Rebuttal are very good as an admonishment to anyone who mocks Christ though, not just Maynard.

Ok Shatterheart. I see what you mean. I thought you said APC songs and Tool songs sound the same. Not tool songs sounding like other tool songs. I understand what you mean now. And Maynard didn't write the lyrics for Judith or any other song on the first APC cd. The guitarist did. And I hate those songs that you provided lyrics for. That's why I don't listen to them. My favorite song on the first APC cd is Hollow. Just cause of the one riff in the chourus. But other than that, I don't personally like the first APC cd. I love the Thirteenth step cd though. I just started the thread to see which band people like better.

personally any song to me that cusses, says anything bad, criticizes Christ or God and/or bad mouths them, and seems really negative is trash to me likewise same with the band.

I loved the song by a band called 36 Crazy Fists "End of August". However, I listened to one of thier songs (Slit Wrist Theory) and they used the "f" word in the chorus. It was a awesome song and had very cool tune but just cause of that F-bomb. That made in instantly dislike them just cause they had to go as low as to cuss in thier music which in my view lacks creativity and feeling. You can easily explain yourself with out cussing.

And as for being a Christian, I don't want to subject myself to listening to it.

Note: so I don't sound like a hypocrite, I do still like the song by 36 Crazy Fists (End of August) even though in another they cussed in it. Because they cussed in it made me have a negative view of the band. I don't listen to End of August as it is anyways.

APC seems a lot less negative as of late...judging by there lyrics. However I think Maynard is and always will really hate God and Christians. It leaks into everything he does. My main reason for not liking him is various interviews I have seen with him. You feel like smacking him around and saying.

"You gone outside lately? There are good things in the world...like sunshine...and soap"

For real. One time Tool was late for a concert because Maynard had to finish a game of Monopoly. I don't like Maynard, just how he sings.

You should get Chevelles first cd. Point #1. I always thought Pete sounded like Maynard on that cd.
