Beware of Ouija boards! Scary experience...

Talk about anything in here.

Postby IZ&Trigun4life » Fri Aug 13, 2004 10:11 am

I myself had gone to a sleep over and we played light as a feather stiff as a board, at the time i had no idea it had anything to do with witchcraft. As played it seemed that no one was being lifted, but al of us were familar with the fact that the game is based on trust and we just thought everybody was scarred. But then it was my turn i layed down and relaxed.....and with incredible ease my body lifted as high as it could with everyone standing.I realized what was going on, and i guess i "lost concentration" and one of my friends droped my head causing me to plumet to the floor. A few days later alot of the same girls and myself went to the movies and talking in the car with one of the girls mothers, my friend blurted out that we played that game and referred to it as witchcraft. I freaked out and and couldnt believe it, i wondered was i being attacked by satan because i was christian, i was the only person it worked on...im still not sure, its been two years and i still think back on it. Then the next year i had an argument with another chrisitan friend who had went to a sleepover and played with it. She went to her friend who was a WICCAN and asked if witchcraft was bad. Of course being involved in pagan beliefs, her friend said no. I repeatedly tried to to convince her that it was bad, then one day i get a an instant message from my friend's friend. And instead of having a mature theological debate.....she automatically bashed me starting with the fact that i accidentally used a coma instead of a period. It upset me sooo much that i asked another friend of mine to help me block this person(who by the way would not tell me who they were and i didnt know that they were who they were untill i asked my friend if she just happened to know them). And that went into a whole nother problem. The next day i had one last arguement with my friend, I told her that her friend the wiccan was not really her friend and i was and the only reason i was telling her this was because i didnt want her to loose herself in worldlyness. Ahhaha so with making a long story short ...messing with the unknown has caused me to be bashed furociously by pagan worshipper and almost loose two friendships, It is sooooo not worth messing with crap like that.....that was probably one of the worst experiences i ever had. (this turned out longer then i expected lol)

Why would a demon be more likely to "break into your house" or try to smother you in your bed or throw teacups one by one off your shelves (this is another story I've heard about these things) because you use an ouija board? I mean, why don't they do stuff like this all the time? Why would they wait for you to use an ouija board to make your lights flicker?

They don't only wait for you to use and Ouija board. They're scaring and bugging people all the time. Sometime it could just be a coincidence that you used a Ouija board prior to that.

Like if one day a demon came and scared you and whatever and you tried to reason why it bothered you, you think, "Well, I messed around with the Ouija board yesterday, it was probably because of that!".
It could also be what Heart of Sword said, that your kinda inviting them into your home and stuff.

I agree with what Yojimbo and Volt said, it's not the actual board thats evil. It's the fact that your trying to communicate with demons. I'm sure if you went into a dark room and started praying to Satan, you'd get the same results.

It doesn't always work though. You could use a Ouija board tons of times and have nothing happen, but you only hear the stories where something did.

True true Kinko.

Well my grandma, told my mom and my mom told me that once my grandma played that game and she had friends over, so they played it and she said that when she started to play it, that all the cups or something like that, they all started to shake and stuff.

But I have herd lots of bad stories about this bord, and I think it's a bad idea. And I too agree with Yojimbo and Votl.

I did the "Bloody Mary" thing ( and you say "Bloody Mary" like 13 times ) once and I thought I saw a angle holding a bloody knife behind me, but that could have just been me, and it could have really happen cause I really wanted something to happen....I guess I was just kinda showing off to my cousins. They did it too, but they said they didn't see anything....so yea.

And another one of my cousins said he did the bloody mary thing and he said he saw someone holding a bloody butcher knife over his head. So these things have happend and I think that you shouldn't toy with these....

Well this whole thread made me get a shiver up my spine, but Kinkosami is listening to Christian Rock so I feel fine..... :)

I was there when we played the Bloody Mary game. Nothing happened. We just all scared each other, for fun. (mind you, this was a long time ago)

I also remember playing the 'Light as a feather, stiff as a board' game with our neighbors. But it never worked because we all kept laughing...

the "light as a feather thing" isnt witchcraft. Its science.

Although I guess anything can be bad if you go at it with a certain attitude (like kinkosami implied)

this person who's obsessed with making things up said that "Death" follows him around and when he turns around it vanishes almost instantly. He also told me that for the bloody mary thing u have 3 flush the toilet 3 times, say it 3 times while looking into the mirror and someone will come out of the mirror and kill you. well, if that was true, how would he have known? :shady: well, i dont beleive him, half the things he tells me are boogus.

I went to a sleepover this summer and some of my friends started playing with the board, which really got me angry.

My Christian friend also played, but she said it was just for amusement, because she believes that the things are fake.
And of course, the Ouija board didn't work at all. Either the things really are fake, or the demons were kept away by my incessant praying.

Still, what I'm kinda confused as to what my Christian friend said. Does believing that it's fake justify it in any way? I don't really think so.

I believe you're on the right line of thinking. Thinking it's fake does not lessen the danger involved. It's the same logic as - this knife is sharp, but if I tell myself it's not, it won't cut me.

I dont think it matters who it looks like the point is its either a demon or the person's imagination either way -- most likely the former taking advantage of the latter -- and people shouldnt mess around with it.

Frankly I think that topic is getting kind of redundant at this point.. or maybe I'm just grumpy cuz I'm tired and have looked at this thread too much today >_<

GUYS! aren't you overreacting? the thing to worry about isn't the overt and eaasily avoided and deterred acts of demons, its the subtle stealing of the soul.like sins that say, go ahead and take(insert what u want here), u need it more, and etc.. It's sin that sneaks up in the form of necessity and want and desire that is way more dangerous. Satan is trying his very best to make you forsake God and burn, or turn away and not help others(whether your a believer or not).By killing you as a believer, he's not going to help, or as in most cases, scaring you just brings you more close to God. It is not God's will that demons run the Earth in the physical form. In fact, they are weak of themselves in the physical. It is through us that Lucifer and his minions make things happen in the physical world. Oiji boards are badf, and yes, they shouldn't be used, because that is not the way to contact God. But that isnt the main concern.

You're right, Momus. Satan is more often subtle in his deception, so we need to be on guard also against things that aren't so obvious as Ouija boards and such. It is very dangerous to mess with the occult, as you are basically inviting demons to have their way. However, I think we've hashed and rehashed this almost to the point of mass hysteria.

Don't mess with the occult... but don't let it strike fear into you either. "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7)

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God: Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world. You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." (1 John 4)

I've never used one, but this is what I understand about what goes on. It's supposed to be you & a few other people, and this triangle piece that's meant for the 'spirits' to guide. The group puts their hands on it, and it moves, while everyone swears up and down that they're not the ones moving it, and you all sit around watching it spell out a message from 'the other side'. So sometimes the message might be someone messing with you, sometimes from real demons.

Yeah, the two or three person thing was something invented to play into the "it's someone doing it" thing. Ouija boards are OMENS. To use an ouija board is to both invite spirits, and so you can interpret an omen ("prophetic" sign regarding the future)... Both of these things are most definately sins, and very serious ones. There is something to be said for ignorance, but no grace granted for denial, I think. Ouija boards, crystal balls, tea leaves (as omens, not as ingredients for a cup of green tea), bones, eggs, and that Bloody Mary game... If you use it in these ways, whether you were just joking around or honestly believed in it, it is a sin and it is dangerous.

'Bloody Mary' is done by chanting 'bloody mary' repeatedly until something scratches your body and face until you bleed... that's how you know that Bloody Mary is there...

I've heard some extremely freaky stories about this 'game', including people who have used 'Bloody Mary' to travel via out of body experiences through mirrors...

Concerning the rest, don't mistake any of this as being simply someone's 'overactive imagination.' The occult is real. Demons are real. Remember that we only inhabit one dimension of our world. The spiritual realm is out there, with limitless possibilities. Don't even try to experiment just to see 'what might happen'. To engage in any occult practice, no matter how mild it may be, you are inviting demons through a door into you life. My mom's family, (way before she was saved a long time ago) used to dabble in witchcraft all the time. I have heard some incredibly freaky stories, this stuff is incredibly dangerous. It's not uncommon for someone to become demon possesed instantly by dabbling in the occult. (NOTE: A true, born again Christian cannot be possesed by demons, since only either light or darkness can dwell inside a person at one time; however; you are still inviting Satan to do horrible things in your life if you dabble in this stuff. Don't think you have immunity just because you are 'saved'. Satan does not care as much about the lost people as he does the Christians; he already has control over the life of someone who is unsaved; it's the Christians he's ultimately trying to bring down; and he will look for any doorway possible to do so.

 Awesome, thanks for bring that up!

God is the only one who we should fear. We win in the end. Not the Devil. But does that make us invincible along the way? Should we take a stick and poke the Devil?
Nu-uh.
Messing with that jazz can only lead to a lot of pain, if not only on God's part, but yours too.
Dabbling in that stuff is like this]have[/I] 4-wheel drive, it doesn’t mean that you have to use it. You don't need to go off-roading whenever there's a traffic jam and you're tried of waiting and trying to figure out what's in front of you.
Just because you can waltz around and use that stuff doesn’t mean that you have to.
So, stick to the road and try to keep the off-roading to the minimal, I'm sure God knew what He was doing when He paved it in the first place ;)

Yeah, God will be dissapointed in you if you do that stuff. It breaks his heart. He tries to protect you from bad stuff, but as a contract written as soon as you know the difference between good and evil, if you do sin, you are saying to God, "Don't protect me, don't help me, I can do this on my own", and as a result, field day for Satan. And he doesnt really want that to happen, but he has promised to give us free will and let us keep it, so its up to you. He really wants you to be happy.

ouija boards really scare me. just today, my friend told me she had one. 0_o
one of her friends gave it to her on her birthday & she really seems to think that ouija is just a game.
(she told me that once she communicated with a french guy who told them he had drowned. 0_o those things are just soooo freaky)
anywayz, i still have to figure out a way to make her believe it's bad

nothing really freaky has ever happened to me, except this one time, i was in english class (the teacher i had back then was a very strong christian) and some of the guys in my class were drawing satanic signs on the board to ask the teacher about them. (we often discussed religion in that class).
well, all of a sudden, she said that she sensed demons in the room, that they had been 'let in' or something, by the signs. then she told us to close our eyes & she prayed that they would go away.
that just really scared me. i don't know, there was probably no reason to be, i just was... i guess i get freaked out pretty easily.

Wow, do ouija boards are real... Some purely evil stuff out there...

Hmm, that "Bloody Mary" thing sounds more like a mind trick you play on yourself. I think that because Bloody Mary was a real person is all.

Now guys like I've said before the Ouija Board itself is not evil. It's just a piece of cardboard with a plastic indicator. They come from the Parker Brothers factory not the depths of hell. They are only a very prevalent way for demons to reach out in this world. You could get the same effect as an Ouija Board if you sat alone in a room and called out to dead spirits. The Ouija board is only a tool for the demons the cardboard box itself is not from the devil.

I guess I have sometime to add that I'm not sure if anyone else has said yet, and it's that there are different, subtler effects from dabbling in the occult. Such things can be depression, anger... negative stuff.

I also have a friend who is (or at least was) into witchcraft. I won't dignify it by the name they refer to it as - it's witchcraft. She's not doing it anymore because she was told by a medium or something that she didn't need to (which don't exactaly put me at ease)... but that's a different tangent.

Basically, she's suffered some pretty hard-hitting depression. The severe end of the scale. Now don't get me wrong - I'm not saying all depression results from practice of the occult. Only that when you dabble with that stuff (like other people have said so I won't overdo the point) you let yourself open to nasty stuff happening - and not always physical, 'freaky' things.

Again, others have said (but I will paraphrase them) that you don't need to be afraid because of this stuff. Remember:

"God has not given me a spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind "
"Greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world."
"No weapon formed against thee shall prosper."
"He will keep in perfect peace who's mind is stayed on him"
"Submit to the Lord, resist the devil and he will flee from you."
(Sorry I can't remember exact verse references guys :( ).

But you do need to be careful. (Again, that point's been belaboured enough). Doing things related to the occult is foolishness. But if you ask for God's forgiveness and protection, he'll give it. If you're ever in a place where major spiritual warfare is happening (perhaps getting physical) - just remember the verses above. God is much, much stronger than anything that frightens you.

Plus, and here's the best bit: what can they really do to you , anyway? At the worst, perhaps, you might die (but would God really let that happen?). Anyway - suppose, at the worst scenario, you die. Where do you go from there? Anybody following me? You go to a pretty awesome place, right? To be with God forever, you get me?

Yes, things can be freaky. The only spiritual attacks I've ever been aware of that I can remember have been in dreams and when I've felt and known something was up. But, every time, when I've been afraid and prayed, God's had me safe in his hand and thwarted the enemy's plans.

So, be careful. But don't be afraid. Aren't we told in one of those verses that God "hasn't given us a spirit of fear ...?" Sometimes we are afraid - but remember that although you feel the fear, there is nothing to worry about. You are safe in your salvation. NOTHING can separate yourself from God's love and salvation. You've given yourself up to him. That's it. Just keep going in the Lord, and you're safe. He's got you. :)

It's great, worthwhile and good to talk about this sort of stuff. But I had the impression people were getting pretty freaked out. Just wanted to encourage you and reassure you. :) . Hope you feel a bit better.

God bless, build, edify and continue the good work he has begun in you and that he will bring about until completion until the day of Christ Jesus (paraphrasing Phillipians 1:6).

I probably shouldn't be reading this thread at night, Halloween weekend, in the semi-dark, alone in the room...*sets LAUNCHcast on all Christian music and hunkers down for a loooooooong night thanks to caffine and hyping herself up XD*

Anywho, everyone is right, though. Our God was the one who created Satan in the first place, and he's here with us, so why should we fear him?

As for odd spiritual experiences, besides a few strange dreams and times when I'm in bed where I feel suddenly attacked with depression, feelings of worthlessness...things like that...the only thing I can think of is when I was in India and walked into a tourist gift shop...I can't explain it well, but it felt like I was suffocating. Like the air was heavier in there and my throat was closing. Both me and my Mom had to bolt out of there pretty quick, my father and brother followed soon after.

Also, one time when my friend (who actually is vaguely interested in this sort of stuff--but is a good Christian and knows not to dabble in the occult, so I'm not worried about her) was job hunting with her family, they came to this one house and the feeling she got from the basement was horrible. At one point when they walked into a room that looked like a child's room, she felt so spiritually attacked all the sudden that she told her parents that they woud not, under ANY circumstances, consider buying that house.
