How many guys are out there than enjoy the love stories in different Anime/Games?

I think the best anime, manga and video game series are the ones with a good balance of action, comedy, and romance. I don't think I'd ever read Marmalade Boy, but InuYasha is a great example.
If this post seems too utterly absurd or ridiculous to be taken seriously, don't.

Yes, I love them, especially when they're mixed with comedy (i.e. romantic comedy). I even liked "Don't Leave Me Alone, Daisy." Has anyone seen that?

I've heard that anime is SERIOUSLY weird.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.
Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.
But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Several people have commented that seeing love stories makes them long for something similar. I can understand that, but can't sympathize. It doesn't work that way for me.

I'm alright with it, except from little kids... (I HATE it when 15 year olds fall in love... Think Gundam SEED.) It isn't my favorite aspect of the various anime and games, but it's fine in moderation.

Once more, UC makes me laugh without cracking a smile himself.
As far as romance goes, I'd prefer that the characters have at least hit puberty, preferably that they be on the other side by a few years. Unrequited is all right, but I like old love better, where the parties have been married, raised a family, and seen the dark side of heck together.
In point of fact, those are the only kind of love songs I like, the ones about old married couples.

Ok, now that that's over with, I do love romantic stories. I love to get emotional over movies, though it does hurt sometimes to watch romantic movies... I mean, it just reminds me that I'm single and, well I could go on, but I don't want to depress anyone (like I did when I read Mary's full letter from Silent Hill 2 in a chatroom with voice capabilities)
Um... yeah, I love romances... I really want to get out to watch "The Notebook" I hope I can see it before it leaves theaters. I loved Kate and Leopold, Addicted to Love (I didn't even know it was rated R until I got back to the US, because it is rated lower in Australia... We technically weren't supposed to watch Rated R movies during our outreach... I think the person manning the controls fast forwarded through a scene or two) My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and quite a few "teen romance" movies too, such as 10 things I hate about you (I know it's just a teeny version of Taming of the Shrew, but I can't tolerate listening to shakespear for too long...) She's all That, and of course A Walk to Remember. A Walk to Remember was great, even though it was too sad for me to ever watch again...

i personally like the very subtle love stories, where no one realises it till the end. I know there are sum like tht that are cheesy and cliche', but if you add some comedy, things smooth over

I'll admit that at least 75% of the Fanfiction I read is of the romance catagory. I usually try to insert some romance into my own fanfiction as well...

What annoys me is that a fair amount of what I write (fanfiction, that is) includes romance. That isn't really a problem, but I hate to ever get stuck in any manner of formula.

I don't write fanfiction, but I do write novels (one in particular) that are a mix of ALL genres (fantasy, science fiction, romance, action, comedy, adventure). I try to keep the romance factor low as in there is no kissing/sex in my stuff. There are crushes (often resulting in humorous situations) but I try to keep love as something to build my characters instead of something to build the storyline.

Gah...this is REALLY gravedigging...sorry about that. I had just about forgotten about this thread, and then something jarred my memory. But as for the depressing part of Anime/Games goes, I used to say that it was bad to listen to music based around the romance of things, and the romance themselves in games, because it leaves a longing in you to have an original relationship like that. It can really drag out emotions and drag you down, you know? It's gotten to the point that if I'm outside alone watching the stars or something, I get an empty, aching hole there that won't go away. Anyway, I prefer the relationships of Kenshin and Kaoru, Cloud and Tifa, and from the way it's looking, [spoiler]Lloyed and Colette[/spoiler] from Tales of Symphonia.

Even though I'm a guy, I'll admit I'm a sucker for romance. But it really all boils down to how cliche or realistic it is. The most recent game romance I enjoyed was the love story between Zidane/Garnet in Final Fantasy IX. (I highly recommend this extremely underated addition to the FF series.)
yah, man, FF 9's my favorite so far. Sorry, but 7 was OVERrated. Other romances are annoying, though, 'cause they're so clicheistic and formulaic. I like Tenchi and MS Nadesico, but those have somewhat similar romances: guy lives/works with a ton of beautiful girls. They all fight over him. He's smothered by them and isn't really interested. I'm sure there are others like that.

Actually, Ashley has moved forward with the concept, and is intending to make a two volume manga about it. And from what has been said in that thread, it could well have a platonic ending.
