Worst movie line you've ever heard

Postby SManBeyond » Tue Jul 20, 2004 4:48 pm

In movies, there are great lines, good lines, bad lines, and memorably bad lines. Post the worst line you have ever heard in a movie.

My pick is from Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and it is truly, truly awful:

"Are you a Mexi-can or a Mexi-can't?"
"Love means to love that which is unlovable; or it is no virtue at all." G. K. Chesterton

Hmm well you could pretty much put the entire movie Water World in this category. :eyeroll:

I'll correct that double post momentarily.

The only line that comes to mind (I would not term it with a superlative, but it was annoying) follows. Please forgive my spelling.

Star Wars, Episode II, Count Dooku:
"It is obvious that this will not be decided by our knowledge of the force."

Yeah, that was an "awesomely bad" line. I think all the lines in movies that try to mix humanistic philosophies with the pet bible verses of Atheists are pretty bad... And, this is much, much too common.

Other than that, SW episode 2 has some truely horrible puns. "I'm beside myself..." "What a drag..." GAH! I actually chuckled a bit at "That boy is going to be the death of me."

Even though this is supposedly in the book too (I haven't read that far), there is a line in Return of the King that really bakes my biscuits...
"You Fool! Don't you know that no man can defeat the king of the Nazgul?" to which what'shername replies "I am no man"
Man, that line just makes me cringe... Bad Tolkien... Bad!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=evcNPfZlrZs Watch this movie なう。 It's legal, free... And it's more than its premise. It's not saying Fast Food is good food. Just watch it.

It is indeed there. Many people I know strongly disliked the line as you did, and others really loved it and were overjoyed that it was also in the movies. I myself don't really, care, though I would find it hilarious if...
After Eowyn says "I am no man" and aims to stab into his helmet, the Nazgul King catches her sword in mid strike and calmly responds "Actually, the term 'man' is used to refer to the race in general, to differentiate them from elves or dwarves. Hence, it would do violence to the language to use it in terms of gender." To which Eowyn responds "Oh, terribly sorry about that."
My pet peeve is bad pickup/romance lines. I can't give you a specific movie that this one came from (mainly because it happens in SO MANY OF THEM!!!!)

The girl and the guy are standing together, alone most of the time. The girl spots something pretty and she says
random female wrote:"It's so beautiful"
(By this point, I generally start screaming at the guy "DON'T SAY IT!!! PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOOD STORY TELLING, DON'T SAY IT!!!!)
And then the guy looks at her and says in an uncharacteristically low voice
random guy wrote:"Not as beautiful as you."

AHHH!!!!!!!!! Oh, man, I hate that one.

And since I hate bad pickup lines, I guess you can take a guess at the movie that annoys me the most: Star Wars episode II.

Anakin wrote:I truly--deeply-- love--you.
Me and my sister laugh hysterically everytime we hear it. But deep down inside, we're not laughing. We're going crazy.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Well the worst line by Anakin Skywalker in Episode 2 was the crap about the Portman and the sand. Let me look it up here.

Ugghh it's just as bad as I remember it was....this is while he's stroking her arm.

"I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and
irritating, and it gets everywhere. Not like here. Here
everything's soft... and smooth..."

And it's because of lines like that I've watched Episode 2 twice all the way through and I own it.:eyeroll:

"In the real world, when you kill people, they die, for real."

i mean...come on....

It's not a movie line, but the whole "We play to win" routine in Final Fantasy X is as annoying as a gathering of mosquitoes... "Our goal this year is to defeat every opposing team, win every game. That's all we gotta do. Easy, Ya?" :bang:

Any line from the movie Dungeons and Dragons is absolutely wretched. Especially anything coming from that one bald man with blue lipstick.

And Anakin has a whole slew of God-awful lines in Ep II:

"They were animals, and I slaughtered them like animals. I hate them!"
"I don't like sand."
"One day, I will be the most powerful Jedi ever. You'll see. I will even have the power to keep people from dying!"
Job 7:16

My favorite notably bad line is from The Matrix.

I myself am quite glad that this thread has yet to devolve into an argument. Given that many people's worst lines are probably others' favorites, this reflects positively on all of you. This has come to mind merely because some of the lines here I actually didn't mind or slightly liked.

Me too, UC. In my opinion, one of the worst line in the dub of DBZ is when Furiza says, "Who are you?" and Son Goku replies with "Ally to good, nightmare to you!" However, this is my friend's favorite dub quote.

If you want bad movie lines, go see any Arnold Schawrzenagger movie. I think that's how his last name is spelt. He's the king of bad lines. In Commando, he throws a guy off a cliff and says, " he tripped."
"Relax, turn around, and take my hand." Tool
"Heir Kommt Die Sonne." Rammestein
"Now the world is gone, I'm just one. Oh please God help me." Metallica
"Are You Ready?!?" KoRn
"All and all your just another brick in the wall." Pink Floyd.
The downfall of society will be society itself.

This one Christian movie I saw had a seriously bad line: M 10:28 This one guy who's supposed to be really ticked off just says, "Will you shut your face?"
Just very bad, in my opinion.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone
And so hold on when there is nothing left in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!' ...you'll be a Man, my son!
