Seven Of Seven

You know how I'm always looking for those family appropriate anime titles. Here's another I've come across entitled Seven of Seven. From the back of the DVD:

As far back as Nana Suzuki could remember her Grandfather wanted to capture the rainbow. After years of fruitless tinkering he finally discovered a crystal that would separate the light from a rainbow into its seven basic colors. The experiment only needed to bake for another few seconds. And that's when Nana accidentally opened the microwave...

Now there are seven Nanas! There's a grumpy Nana, a giggly Nana, a crybaby, a slowpoke, a cool Nana, and a brainy Nana in addition to the original Nana - but they're still all Nana. She's got seven times the problems, seven times the hopes and seven times the love for that cute boy Yuichi.

How can Nana possibly compete with herself and what are her parents going to say when they find out they now have seven daughters.

The first volume has the first five episodes and the suggested age is 7 and up. Nothing at all objectionable. As the series goes forwards the Nanas find that they have super powers and are able to dress as the Nana Rangers which produces some funny moments.

From just viewing the first volume I give it a go. For those of you looking for a title that you can show your siblings, this would be a good one.

There's also a manga. It's published by ADV manga if I'm not mistaken and I believe it's similarly rated. I'll have to check it out. (I really like the synopsis. Especcially the part about the microwave.)
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.
