What is your favorite American cartoon?

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Saint Kevin » Sat Jul 17, 2004 2:19 pm

I'll keep it short:
1) Simpsons - Best and most well-known cartoon to come out of America in a long time. Ain't satire great?

2) Garfield and Friends - This was probably the best ever attempt at making an American comic strip into a cartoon. And, I think it ended up running 100+ episodes.

3) The Angry Beavers - C'mon, how could you not like Norbert and Daggett? They're hilarious. They also coined many phrases that are just great, like spoot.

Number 3 was tough. I was considering all of the older nicktoons that I knew and loved. Surprisingly, I ended up liking the Angry Beavers much much later than when Nickelodeon first released it. Probably after it was cancelled in fact. A lot of people did the with Family Guy as well, more recently.

4) Speaking of Family Guy, it was a close 4th.

Spongebob Squarepants!
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

SPONGEBOB! Yes, I know that some conisder ti a kids' show, but be aware that about 20% of tis viewers are over 18. Though I do not fit into that category yet, I'm still watching it. sometimes it makes you fall down laughing, sometimes it makes you chuckle lightly and be amused. Other times it makes you scratch your head and say "What on Earth jsut happened here?" And sometimes, ti makes so little sense that it's hilarious. Good show. Gooooooooooooooooood show. Fairly Odd Parents is good too. Oh no! Here they come AGAIN! *Gets run out of town by an angry mob*

Let's see:

Dexter's Lab, Animaniacs, Looney Tunes, the old Mickey Mouse/Goofy/Donald Duck cartoons, and, er, Muppet Babies (I really miss that show!!!)

Oh, and commenting on the whole Mega Man issue: there was an American TV series a while back that looked like anime but was made in America (a lot of Japanese people worked on it, though). It's one of my faves, too, since it always had a different robot boss each episode. ADV sells the show on DVD now.

I think there's a new Mega Man anime on, but I haven't seen it or anything.

My favorite American cartoon is probably Batman/Superman.
Justice League and Teen Titans are good as well. Batman Beyond was decent.

So, yeah, the DC Comics based ones...

Am I too old for this? I don't think so.

Of newer cartoons, my favorites are Teen Titans, PowerPuff Girls, Dexter's Lab (before "the change" - anybody catch the Mock 5 episode? Old school parody at it's best), and, I should be ashamed to say it, Totally Spies.

Old school stuff - Freakaziod, Thundercats, Danger Mouse, and any Looney Toon starring Daffy Duck.

I love cartoons! Practically all the old school ones mentioned in this thread rock. Darkwing duck, and there's this one with these snorklenosed pink things that i bet no one will be able to ID from my poor summary and my little pony. The old x-men was awesome and so was the old TMNT. I don't care for the new stuff tho. My favorite now is totally 100% Fairly Odd parents!

Are these cartoons present or past?

If present I was really digging He-Man, till they stopped showing him alltogether...*wimper*

Now I'm kind of waiting in anticipation for Justice League Unlimited.

For the time being Ninja turtles keeps me happy.

If were talking catoons of the past however, I'm afraid there are just too many to post.....wwwaaaaayyyyyyyyy too many.

X-Men Evolution...

Danny Phantom...

Do Disney Movies count? Then.. I like most of the animated ones. Especially the classics. Cinderella was my favorite growing up. I watched it so much, our VCR at three tapes of it. ^-^ Yah... I'm through.

Blackfire: *laughing* Good one!
*Beast Boy whispers to Raven*
Beast Boy: See, someone appreciates my jokes.
Raven: Statistically...I'd have to say...someone has to...
*Beast Boy glares in disgust*

OH!!! SHOT DOWN!!!

The rest are:

Spongebob Squarepants

Cardcaptors - I know it's from Japan but...you know...come on!

I like Robin on Teen Titans. My least favorite Teen Titan is Starfire...NO WAIT...Terra! I hate both of 'em.

I loved what Raven said when Beastboy was hypnotized. Starfire was saying something like, "I fear his brain may be gone for good!" Then Raven said, "Beastboy had a brain?" And Beastboy woke up laughing until he realized what she said. *lol*

Oh yeah...I remember that episode. It was with the crazy illusion dude... heh... Yeah, Raven is my favorite character in Teen Titans. If it wasn't for her, I'd never watch that show. Each time I watch it, I cringe at least twice. Their obvious attempts at copying anime is disturbing...

My favorites, in order (starting with the very best ones):

Dexter's lab (the old ones not the new ones)
Spongebob
Ed edd and eddy
Power puff girls (mojo jojo is the funniest cartoon villain ever)
Teen Titans

The old Dex's Lab was the like funniest stuff ever (with spongebob coming in a close second) but I dont like what they did a year or so ago where they changed they voice actors and the visual style ofthe show. It seems all together much less inspired, plot-wise, and also ugly in comparison to the original style. And did I mention that half of what made the first ones so great was dexter's accent?

Spongebob goes without saying.

Most of the best moments in ed edd and eddy are 2-second one-liners coming from either Rolf or Ed.

I used to watch PPG a lot and the thing I remember most about why I liked it so much is mojo jojo saying things like "I will develop a plan so diabolical and evil... that it will CRUSH the power puff girls! But first! ImustattendtothedishesthatIhavesoiledwiththefoodthatIhaveeaten."

Teen titans is ok, but its usually incredibly cheesy. I never really liked raven because of her black-magic stuff... starfire is cute (for an alien) and funny though. Especially wish those weird foods she has to make every time something happens emotionally 0_o Robin is cool because he seems to be the only one that can fight worth diddly squat. That plus my favorite episodes were the finale of the first season, which focused on him making sacrifices and tough decisions to save his friends.

Invader Zim
Batman Beyond
Batman The Animated Series
Big Guy and Rusty The Boy Robot
Samurai Jack
Dexter's Lab
Spider-Man (1996)

Invader Zim: Dark, disturbing, zany, action-packed at times, and goth-like coolness. I think this is the best toon Nickelodeon ever aried, but only because I've never actually seen 1 full episode of Ren and Stimpy....

Batman Beyond: This one ws pretty edgy for Kids WB. Dark, violent, and nicely done.

Batman The Animated series: When I first saw the beginning song with that HUGE anime styled explosion, I was like,"WWOOOOOOOW!" This series rocked!

Big Guy and Rusty The Boy Robot: Some of you may have seen this, some of you may have not. it's based on the 2 issue miniseries by Frank Miller and Geoff Darrow. It's some of the most detailed work you'll ever see in your life! Will totally BLOW your mind!!

Samurai Jack: Among all of those flashy toons with heavy metal and seazure causing explosions, there's Samurai Jack. Peaceful, intelligent, artsy, and adventurous. I love this show, and it has great virtues in it.

Dexter's Lab: This show TOTALLY ROCKED when I was young. The old ones are still pretty enjoyable. But ever since Gennedy sold the series, it totally SUCKS!

Man, this Spider-Man series is definately the BEST OF ALL animated spider-man series! It's still great.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy!!!!

Here are some of my favorite 'Ed' quotes:

-Eddy: BUSTED!
Edd: EXPOSED!!!
Ed:...........Nope, can't think of a word.

-Ed: Hey Eddy, how many bunnies did we start with?

-Ed: Pet the chicken. Pet the chicken.

-Ed: Double D!!! Wilbur (Raulph's goat) ate Sara!!!
