Err... I'ma litttle doubtful that it would qualify as clean anime. Haven't seen it, but I've read some reviews that it wouldn't quite fit into that category. I'd like to reinforce Rev. Doc's list and add Digimon if you aren't afraid of the series. It's really good once you get into it, and its dub is actually pretty good. Or maybe I'm just a crazy. *Shurgs and goes off to spray squirrels with a super soaker*

Rurouni Kenshin, however some language
Fruits Basket, though moderate language (only by one character though)
Hamtaro
Zoids Chaotic Century (I think...I've seen it quite a few times, nothing objectionable)
Medabots (it's hilarious too)
Digimon (it's not a copy of Pokemon and has some Christian themes in it)
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

Oo, I second Kenshin and Digimon. *sentimental sniff* It was the first anime I ever obsessed over. It's very near and dear to my heart. ^____^
Ditto about Cowboy Bebop not making the bar for "clean". ^^; I've only seen a few eps. but yeah, not to be filed under "clean".
Love wins.

Well, pretty much everything Miyazaki is clean. Although there are "demons" on Mononoke, they aren't what you would expect and it's a symbolic thing anyhow. But yeah Miyazaki's films are pretty light-hearted, except for a few violent scenes on Mononoke.

My Neighbour Totoro
Kiki's Deliver Service
Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind
Spirited Away
Caslte in the Sky
Castle of Cagliostro
Princess Mononoke

...haven't seen Porco Risco to know what it's like since the DVDs will take a while to get here, but all I know is it's a more adult anime *shrugs*

Witch Hunter Robin, if you're willing to accept the premise that the "witches" in the series are actually a mutation of humans, with the abilities passed on gentetically.

Porco Rosso? That's the one about flying pigs, isn't it? Yeah, sounds really adult to me. ;)

For real, is it an adult anime, and if it is, how so?

I would second Millenium Actress. It was awesome and it as totally and completely clean. Plus it's a Kon film, which makes it a must see any way.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think "adult" refers to it not being for children in PLOT, not in, ahem, the other way. I've got that one on DVD, and I really like it. But again, I don't know that children would get it. It would be kind of boring for them.

I would re-inforce that anything from Studio Ghiblei is clean, although the films may not be for children. After all, Fayefaye, who started this thread, is not a child. Since you stated you liked Trigun and I gather you like Cowboy Bebop by your user name, you may also like Crest of the Stars (and it's sequel Banner of the Starts), Jubei-chan the Ninja Girl, and Vandread. Although Vandread does have some crude humor.
