Women's Bible Study question: girls only

Postby true_noir_chloe » Tue Jun 29, 2004 9:46 pm

I've been praying about something lately, and so I'll pose this question to you guys - or should I say, girls.:)

I know St. Kevin is starting a Bible study soon, and I was wondering if any of the young girls would be interested in a woman's Bible study - just for girls. I was thinking either going through a Beth Moore type study or something to grow closer to God in prayer.

Please let me know what you think - admins. included - and we'll see what God works out. :) Please also let me know if you've ever worked in a Bible leading capacity, as well.

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

Would this be on the board or in a chatroom? I never manage to make it on time for chat Bible studies...^^;; It would be a great idea for those who can, though.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Outsiders judge us for it, and make fun of us for it, and it makes Jesus look bad. We of all artists on earth should be the most concerned with doing our best possible work at all times. We of all people should write with all our hearts, as if writing for the Lord and not for men.

That sounds cool... i'm never on time for anything though so chat-based would probably count me out.

A Bible study with the women of CAA sounds like a good idea. =) I'm not familiar with what a Beth Moore study is though.

This sounds like an awesome idea, Chloe. ^_^ I'd be happy to participate.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Oh. . . Beth Moore Rocks. I really love her Bible studies. I might very well be interested.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Wow, lots of interest and that's really what this thread was about, to see if there was interest. Mangafanatic/Osaka, you're familiar with Beth Moore? That's so great. She's my favorite. Her studies have probably brought me to my knees and closer to God than any of the others I've gone through in 20 years.

Okay, I'm thinking a combination, such as, once this gets off the ground, as a book that we all follow along with in our personal time and chat/discussion. If you're all open to that let me know, which may mean around a $10 purchase for the workbook to follow along with. I would buy the book for you who don't have the money; however, that would mean me knowing your address and that wouldn't be good. So, you might have to ask your moms for cash to purchase - tell her its better than buying a manga.

This would maybe be once a week that we check in and talk over the section we've read. I think a chat would be great with one another, and Kirakira this might be a chat your parents would allow if they would like to talk to me about it. We'll see. ^___^

This is still in a prayerful, watchful mode, so keep letting me know your thoughts gals.

This is a link for you to read more about Beth Moore; for those of you who would like to know more about her and her doctrine:

I wonder why that is...

It may be a good idea to do this through the BB instead of a chat room, just because of time issues... Not everybody will be able to "meet" at the same time. ... or perhaps a combination of both?

Bulletin Board?

^^ Well, if it comes down to this in a chatroom, I'll talk to my parents to see if they can make an exception to the rule. ^^;; If not, I may go through it on my own, and chat with people who were able to chat. I'll pray about that. God knows.

Oh, I'd be open to buying a book. ^^ My dad is an obsessive bibliophile, and would probably be relieved that I want to but a "real book". *lol*

6. Spirit_Wolf
7. Mave

I'll add to this list and keep everyone informed here, kay?:)

This next week I will go to the book store and search out some titles and then I'll place three possibilities here for you all to comment on. Then we'll figure out which one would sound the most interesting to start. We'll see what you feel led to study and grow closer to God with. I will definitely consider a Beth Moore study, so please let me know if you have any problems with her.

Okay, thanks guys, I mean ladies. *hehe*;)
