Suki by Clamp is it good?

I read about it and I wasn't sure where the story was going....
If you read it what did you think?

I read a review and-- eh, I can't tell you for sure, but the set up sorta weirded me out. From what I understand, it's about this girl who falls for her professor. Now, this wouldn't be much of a problem if it was kept at that. The problem is that the teacher likes her back and I think the manga is about their relationship. There are so many better titles that this. I'd steer away from it. There, that's my two cents. Take it, leave it, or put it in that little cup by the cash register for the next person to take.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Suki

Postby Lady Arianrod » Wed Jun 23, 2004 1:10 pm

I recently started reading Suki by CLAMP, and I find it to be cute and interesting. It's characters are pretty realistic and the art is adorable. From what I've seen, the teacher has an interest in the main character, Hinata, but the entire manga is generally innocent and doesn't feature any sexual tension. Hinata herself is quite naive and sincerely likes Shiro (the professor), but she doesn't obsess over him. I'll get back to you after I've read more or if my opinion changes.

For now, however, I find this manga to be a cute, entertaining read. It's not your typical magical-girl fare from CLAMP.

I finished it recently. Good. As Lady Arianrod said, the Prof. has an "interest" in her. Whether it is a romantic one...

I totally loved Suki. I kept me in happy fangirl giggles and squeals the entire time. ^_^ It's entirely adorable and fun. Hina is so kawaii you just want to hug her like Emi-chan does. The relationship between Hina and Shiro is a little awkward, but I think it's cute. ^_^

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

You're right--- the manga was fun... and adorable. By the way, have you read Clover or Wish? I'm looking into those two manga.

Yeah, and if you want a second opinion on wish (or alteast the first half of it) you can just head over to the manga section where, if I'm not mistaken, this thread actually belongs. Unless there's some Suki anime which I'm not familiar with. . .
