Calling all DDR fans!

Postby JediSonic » Mon May 24, 2004 8:40 am

Okay everybody, my friend showed me this site yesterday and its so cool!

http://www.flashflashrevolution.com

Its like ddr but on your computer! If you have a slow computer like mine you'll need to press the small 'Q' icon in the upper left corner of the game screen to play it smoothly.

WARNING: Song lyrics may contain profanity. If you're worried about it, I'd advise you do definitely stay away from the rap/hiphop catergory and perhaps rock as well. The only rock song I've heard so far had lyrics that were highly unintelligible so neither me nor my friend found them offensive... or English

Yeah, I've noticed that most ddr songs are just a loop of several very generic phrases put to a very rhythmic, catchy tune.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Click the link at the top that says FFRThe Game :)

They might not let you in without registering though, I'm not sure. registration is no big deal... just a username and password... so I recommend doing it.

OK now that I've played more I will reiterate... DEFINITELY stay away from the Hip-Hop style songs! Theres some song called Fett's Vett or something and I thought it was cool at first cuz its starwars related but then the f-word popped out of my computer and I'm like darn.

I've been hearing a lot about this 'DDR' thing, I have some music from it too... I just don't know what it is, where you can buy it or anything. I'm such a n00b.

If you guys could just at least tell me what it is, that would be nice... :thumb:

oh, sure! Well if you go into any large video game arcade (at least around where I live) just walk around until you find a game with lights, music, and players jumping up and down on little arrows  .. thats DDR!

DDR stands for Dance Dance Revolution, so called because the whole game is based on you 'dancing' to the music you choose by stepping on the arrow buttons at exactly the right time! There are 4 arrows, one in front, one behind, and one to either side of you. As the arrow icons scroll up the screen they pass little arrow-shaped frames, and at the moment they are perfectly on top of the frame you must press the corresponding button. To be good at DDR, you must be in fairly good physical shape (if you arent this game will get you there), have a good sense of musical timing, and good coordination! Thats why its so cool :D

The downside is, the game is generally very expensive to play compared to most games arcades have lying around. But if you find that you really like it, you can buy one of the home versions of the game for playstation or ps2, and a dance pad for maybe $20 extra. Sadly all I have is a gamecube, and sony seems to have the exclusive contract on this game :P But hey, thats what FFR is for!

I play Delight Delight Reduplication. As far as I know, it is the most 'vanilla' flavoured dance game program you can find, because it can also play BeMusic music, as well as DDR. It also supports both 4 arrows and 6 (I think), and 12 naturally. For BeMusic music you can play 5-key, 7-key, 10-key, or even 14-key :o I tried playing 14-key once but gave up. I'll live with 5-key for a while...

If there are any Gabber music in FFR, I might try it.

Thank you for the information! Nightshade helped me out with it a lot too. The game sounds pretty fun, maybe I should try it sometime.

Um, is it any fun when you're playing it on the computer? I mean, you don't get to jump around on the little arrows anymore, so what do you do? Meep...:P
