I loved the episode. Pound Cake, and Pumpkin cake. -_-; xDD

But Pumpkin chewing on that squeaky rubber chicken is ridiculously adorable.

Possibly the best Pinkie episode EVER!

Loved the intro, that kind of logic that makes my head hurt and I never want to try and figure out how it works again, is fantastic.
And I loved seeing a new side of Pinkie. And the episode just flowed so well.
Pinkie being cool. Pinkie being serious.:wow!: Pinkie crying for real, that was so sad, I also wanted to cry.:sniffle: And Pinkie maturing a bit. It's official: Pinkie has saddest and deepest episodes. (Rarity second for Sisterhooves)
Also.

Fluttershy doesn't say no to Angel. I wonder if Angel uses the Stare on Fluttershy.

Interestingly. Before I watched this episode I saw about five minutes of one of those two bit animations that ripped off the Tom&Jerry – Baby gag chase, needless to say they did a horrible job. It's great that MLP not only made every babysitting gag work, but also kept it fresh and gave the little foals personality! That is amazing.

Ha! I bet you're right! And yup, this show just does everything right. Everything. I've noticed other things that were definitely inspired by classic cartoons and other films, but it never feels like a rip-off, but more of a subtle hat-tip that is pulled off extremely stylishly and respectfully. The makers of this show have really outdone themselves. I don't think there's ever been a product-based show or movie of this caliber. Not even the Transformers movies can stack up, and millions of dollars have gone into those!

The scene with Pound crawling on the ceiling was likely an homage to Exorcist III:

I guess Spike doesn't get his own episodes is because he's not considered "cute" to little girls. Because, Friendship is Magic is still supposed to appeal to little girls.

I guess that would explain why Rainbowdash doesn't get much screen time either, considering she's not as girly as everypony else.

It might be true about Spike, but I have to disagree about Rainbow Dash. She gets more than her fair share of screen time (maybe even a little too much), which isn't surprising since Fyrefly was also very popular in G1.
For Spike I'd love another 'Owls well' type episode, villain Spike is best Spike. But the Rarity crush thing has been popping up a lot lately and it would be a shame if all of Spike's best scenes this season were Rarity crush scenes.

I don't think the marathon is going to be just Spike-centered episodes... I think the name is just Spike-A-Thon, but they will be showing about 20-something episodes as chosen by the fans. A poll went out on Equestria Daily a while back asking everyone to choose their best episodes for it.

I think if Rainbowdash receives less screen time, it's probably because at times she is a genuinely obnoxious character.

That being said, she has more than her fair share of screen-time. I think we need more Fluttershy episodes. I'd say that of the six, she and Pinkie Pie have the fewest character episodes.

@Twister XD

And I must correct myself: CK was right. I had it mixed up. I guess there's a DIFFERENT marathon that will be happening at some point in the future with the 20 or so episodes. The spike marathon is just 4... but I can't recall more than two episodes that actually star him. Any ideas?

Also, this morning's episode was the best episode in the whole world.
Derpy Hooves is officially a character. Big Mac shed some manly tears. There was a massive I Love Lucy reference. Pinkie is just being completely amazingly awesome as usual, and there was a high-speed chase scene. So much win!
And I agree that we need more Fluttershy episodes. There were a few in season, but so far a shortage of them in two. It looks like we'll be getting another Pinkie Pie episode soon, though. Episode 18, I think.

Cool episode, sorta predictable but good! I LOVED Derpy's talking! (whooho Go Tabitha St. Germain!)

Shes so cute X3

Also I think they were referencing I love Lucy during the cherry sorting scene:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NPzLBSBzPI

AND they referenced Dodge City, Ks! :D (Dodge Junction, get the "heck out of Dodge.") bwhahaha...(I was in Dodge City, Ks yesterday, go figure. *points to avatar*)

I liked the latest episode and , yay, Derpy finally talked!

And I would totally use Pinkie's "Pickle barrel! Kumquat!" line to annoy people.

A historical episode!:rock:Derpy finally becomes canon! I'm gonna miss Ditzy, but at least she'll always be in fanon. For me Ditzy was always the silent clumsy type while Derpy was the loud clutzy type, so this Derpy works for me.
And Pinky Pie is best pony two weeks running.(Post pony ftw:-^o^-:).
I have issues with this episode though. The plot felt very forced and for a pony with the element of honesty, Applejack was very dishonest for a lot of the episode, even more so then when Discord shadowed her. I could see Rarity fitting in much better to this lesson.
That said, this was a fun, wild and much needed Applejack episode.
And “Rarity, catch me.” is now my most favourite quote.

On a side note: I feel very left out as I don't know any of these shows that are being referenced:eh:

The most recent episode was awesome and everything about it was great.

She wasn't being dishonest, she didn't lie about what was going on, she just avoided the questions. Besides, the ponies don't always perfectly express their elements anyway, that's not the point of the show.

Could be a middle name or nickname. Ditzy "Derpy" Doo. Or how lots of the characters call Applejack "AJ."

So anyway, I'm gonna link this because it's pretty funny.

I agree that they don't express their elements perfectly, I'm fine with this. This episode just confuses Applejack's actions a little bit in regard with her element. Honesty is not just about telling the truth. Hiding the truth from her friends when they found her and asked her was dishonest, not showing up at breakfast was dishonest. And telling them she would explain at breakfast was an outright lie, because she never intended in showing up in the first place, even if she tried to explain it away. All this from the pony that comforted Fluttershy when in Dragonshy she was also feeling ashamed of herself.
However none of this breaks Applejack's character though and this is still a very good Applejack episode, it just hinders the storytelling for me a bit.

Edit:
Well, while I was browsing through some of the interesting Derpy/Ditzy discussions I read some posts that made me look at this episode from a different angle.
Applejack promised the town she'd win and pay to fix town hall (it was town hall, wasn't it?), because she didn't win the money she felt that she was dishonest and she wanted to fix that. It's basically a battle with herself, she felt she was dishonest and by trying to fix it the wrong way she were falling more and more into dishonesty. And this also ties in well with the lesson. By looking at it like that this episode doesn't just become better for me, but also carries a deeper meaning. Yeah, I think I can live with that.

Tons of it. A lot of people are mad at the fanservice and the apparent negative portrayal of the mentally disabled. That or they're just mad that fannon became cannon.

The fandom created Derpy to be stupid and slow in the first place. All the MLP staff did was copy pasta what we already created after an entire of year of saying "lol it'd be so cool if Derpy said words!" Now she says words and people are mad.

I actually like the idea of fan culture having some marginal influence on cannon. As long as Derpy remains a side character, I ain't bovvered.

Yes, it was. A lot of people were complaining that AJ was just being too competitive and hated losing, which is usually more associated with Dash (Fall Weather Friends aside). But the real problem was that she didn't win the prize money, which she had promised to the mayor and the citizens. After getting their hopes up, she felt that she would disappoint everyone, perhaps even earn their hatred, by returning empty-handed. It wasn't just about the ribbons]Has anyone here heard any of the negative reaction to that episode?
Yes, I have, but it seems to be a vocal minority. Most fans are elated that Derpy spoke and had a role in an episode. The biggest complaints are that "derp" is seen as an offensive word in the UK, and that it was a shot at disabled people. It's likely that the name "Derpy" will be overdubbed/censored in UK airings, at the very least.

I didn't see it as malice towards disabled people, and at the very least Derpy was shown as somewhat more intelligent than other cartoon characters that are either portrayed as complete idiots or clumsy oafs. I believe the examples brought up were Billy (from Billy and Mandy, who was pretty much completely retarded) and Ed from Ed, Edd n Eddy (pretty much the same). Heck, even Snips and Snails act like that, and Snails has the "goofy moron" voice too! Didn't hear any complaints about Snails being a jab at mentally challenged people.

Some people didn't like the voice, because well, everyone kinda had their own voice in their head for Derpy I think. Also because of the one word spoken in an earlier episode ("Muffins!"), and a lot of fandubs that one person did on Youtube of Derpy (the person who did that Muffinproof song that I can't stand).

But the same thing happened with Luna. Most of the fans embraced her but there were still the ones that liked the fanon Luna better.

I'm just surprised it was Tabitha St. Germain that voiced Derpy, because when the episode was airing I swore it was Ashleigh Ball doing it.
