Alt Functions

Postby josh_manga » Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:47 pm

Hey, has anyone seen a complete catalog of the Alt key + Number Pad sequences? Does such a thing exist? I'm talking about the special characters that are hidden in the computer that can be used by holding the Alt key and pressing a sequence of numbers on the Num Pad.

such as: Ä╛Θ▄

It seems to be different in the message box than it is in Microsoft Word...

For instance here: Alt 3 is ♥
And in Word: Alt 3 is ♥
But here: 339 is S
and in Word: 339 is Å“

Is this a difference in coding? HTML?

Here we go http://www.alt-codes.net/ ^^

I found that some are different on vB 4.. Probably, unrelated, but for some reason, some symbols show up differently lol

The link Tsukuyomi posted shows the extended ASCII characters. These are entered as ALT+{0-255}

You can also enter Unicode characters in the same way, by starting the decimal number with a 0. You can see a list of available characters here.

Macs work a bit differently, but a quick google finds this: http://macbiblioblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/entering-unicode-text-and-symbols.html

And then there's unicode... For when one byte just isn't enough to say it, with feeling!
