YES.

And, yeah I was looking at the way ANN had it layed out. I didn't know it was still in the preliminary/polling stage.

Ahem

Mami Figmas freaking where?!

Funny story I learned from good ole Tvtropes about Kyubey's seiyuu.
Emiri Katou is a nice lady who loves the Magical Girl genre and nearly had a Heroic Blue Screen of Death when she learned just what sort of character she'd be voicing.

I've been seeing Mami figmas (and a lot of other figmas) pop up on some places I'm following. They definitely exist, don't you worry.

Here's a report of the Madoka panel at Otakon, in which they played the first three episodes of Madoka and had some Q&A afterwards with the executive producer.

Also, apparently they're dubbing it. It would be nice if they did a sub-only boxset that people could preorder or something, though.

Another take on the panel by Crunchyroll. A few notes of interest:

It looks like they're hoping to get someone to stream Fate/Zero, so that's good news.

They're hoping to make the US release of Madoka an attractive purchase for Japanese fans, which is good because one of the things that I miss the most from North American releases is the nice packaging. I don't know what it is about North America that compels us to put way too much information on boxes that ruin how nice they would otherwise look. The other thing, which I'm not surprised others are trying to do more of, is get Japanese otaku to purchase it because of the whole getting people to buy a thing twice.

Finally, he raises a pretty good point about TV airings in Japan. It's one of the reasons why 2ch hates foreign fans so much: because we can get subbed TV raws of shows before it airs in their part of the country. I mean, yes, they could just download raws too, but Japan is a high tech wonderland where everyone has a PVR that they can set to automatically record shows based on syoboi (which most do, since late night anime airs at like 1 or 2 am).

Well, the good news is that it's been licensed-- so the DVD's (and hopefully Blu-Rays... though they haven't mentioned anything about the formats yet) will be coming here soon. :)
Saved by grace.

If you google it, you'll probably be able to find it on almost any anime streaming site.

Thanks to Sheol777 for mentioning this to me at Otakon -- I was able to watch the series, and have to admit it's one of the more shocking series I've seen in a while. Will be watching it a second time through to catch everything I didn't the first time.

just saw on ANN a news article saying the last disc of Madoka in Japan has a "director's cut" version of episode 12 on it as an extra feature. I hope that the Region 1 DVDs will get it too.

In the staff commentary of Mahou Shoujo Madoka★Magica Blu-ray vol.6, Urobuchi Gen has announced that he is working on the next work of madoka.

Urobuchi: It's been quite short since I began to work in the anime industry, but I was fortunate that the producers of Madoka let me do in my own way. In order to show my gratitude to the staff, I'm struggling to work out ideas of the next "thing". I think I can announce it someday.
Yuki Aoi: Second season? Second season?
Urobuchi: I'm twisting my brain now.
Yuki Aoi: There could be a parallel world or a different ending?
Urobuchi: Possible. We won't let Madoka go.

Aoki Ume makes me so happy. Thanks!

Random question for those who know more about these matters than I (which is probably everyone)...was another part of the OST released with the final volume? I've been waiting for that track from the final episode...

Yes, it was.

Also, I don't know if that qualifies as "announcing" anything. Urobuchi likes to ramble and throw out ideas like that in interviews and his commentaries.

North American release details.

Three volumes, four episodes each.
Regular Edition: DVD $30 USD, BD $40 USD
Limited Edition: DVD/BD combo $75 USD
LE bonuses (per volume): nicer box, two covers (because there are six Japanese covers but only three North American volumes), booklet including character designs and those Aoki Ume 4 panel strips, poster, sticker, postcards, an OST volume (there are three)

loljapan price comparison index
Limited Edition: BD ¥7350, DVD ¥6300
Regular Edition: DVD ¥5250
LE bonuses (per volume): booklet, bonus CD (either a drama CD or an OST volume depending on which volume), commentary tracks, some other stuff that I can't tell what it is because google translate

NA LE: $75 × 3 volumes = $225
JP LE BD: ¥7350 × 6 volumes × 76.88 USD/JPY = $573.60
JP LE DVD: ¥6300 × 6 volumes × 76.88 USD/JPY = $491.66

NA RE BD: $40 × 3 volumes = $120
NA RE DVD: $30 × 3 volumes = $90
JP RE DVD: ¥5250 × 6 volumes × 76.88 USD/JPY = $409.72

It's only $75 if you're buying the Limited Edition. The regular edition is only $30 a volume.

I'm a little bit worried about this. I definitly want to get the Limited Editions if I can, but I *don't* want to have to pre-order them through Right Stuf. I'd rather use Amazon. But are these DVDs even going to be sold through amazon? And what if the "LE" moniker is accurate and they really do only make a limited number of these, then they'll end up being sold out and I'll be stuck buying them off ebay for a fortune. plus they put up pre-orders for ALL THREE already. It would suck if the LEs sold out before even the first volume gets released. grrrr. ><

Based on what I know about Aniplex USA, Limited Edition is actually going to be limited and I doubt they'll be available anywhere else. Regular edition stuff will probably show up on Amazon, though. And you only get charged when stuff ships, so if you need to, you can cancel your preorders before it ships.
