I need a logo idea.

Hi there chaps.

I'm designing a logo at the moment for a new website. I was wondering if you guys might be able to think of a symbol that describes freedom, ideally with a neutral political stance, and a kind of techy-cyberpunk feel.

No this isn't a script kiddie site... its something completely different.. will reveal details later (theme is mainly along the lines of science and technology).

I don't need any actual designs.. just ideas for symbols (eg. objects, animals, etc.)
There cannot be any religious affiliation.

Edit: Design ideas are welcome though. I guess I'll need to reveal a bit - the subject is nanotechnology.

How about a panther, wolf, or other cool anime is reaching its paw out of a cage, but the paw is disentigrating into particles. AKA nanotech.

A lineart of a cardboard box made out of wireframe that is half-open, preferably white lines on blue background.

[edit] Make the lines quite thick, but just enough to feel the openess of the box while bolding its outline.

[2nd edit] Didn't read the part about nanotech. In that case, make it a lineart of a cardboard box that where the closed part of it is full and whole while the opening 'flaps' of the box disintegrates into the background colour is dotted-lines, and eventually fading out.

Thanks for the ideas guys.. here's a title logo I cooked up. I like the animal ideas..

The site will be a messageboard for discussing molecular nanotechnology, and will also focus on trying to inform the public about the implications of this new science... search Google or click the link in my sig for more info on that.

I've always thought of broken chains as a symbol of freedom. In regards to nanotechnology, you could maybe get the double helix of DNA in the somewhere. Perhaps you could merge the two symbols, like having a double helix that begins and ends as a double helix, but morphs into a chain the closer you get to the middle. At the middle of the chain, you could have it broken. Just something I thought up, although it looks like you won't need it.

The first thing I thought of was Ashley's idea of little things spewing out from something cool in the middle. An animal exploding out of a cage would be cool too though.. you know, like in the picture its already several feet out of the cage, flying through the air and maybe with some motion lines/ghosts trailing behind it and the cage is splintering/collapsing
