CAA's Nickname Thread

Postby Kireihana » Sun May 16, 2004 5:40 pm

This was inspired by Mangafanatic's "I need a nickname" thread. I thought it would be cool if we could all make nicknames for ourselves, especially those of us with very long screen names, and make everyone a bit more familiar with each other.

So, my nickname would be Kirei, the first part of my actual screen name.

Is it truly possible to create a nickname for yourself? However, I do see the point you make in regard to shortened names. Personally, I generally refer to every member by their full username, regardless of length or numbers involved.

I believe that it is generally known that my shortened name on this site is UC.

I have a nickname that my friends (and my dad) sometime use, but I will not use it here for fear it may stick. (And I wouldn't want that to happen ;) )

Feel free to simply call me 'Azier' or 'The Swordsman'. 'The Man' isn't bad either, and I'll also accept 'The Extremely Handsome One'.

If there is anyone on CAA that doesn't need a nickname, then that would be me. Having a particularly funny last name (Kulpa) I've gotten many nicknames over the years. In no particular order, various nicknames I've received:
Koopa, Kulps, Kulpslaw, Chalupa, Copa Cabana (by the football team, which was always proceeded by at least a lyric from that very annoying song...you know the one...). I also go by Kev sometimes, and have used the handle Kdawg online and in games.

Well, they're my nicknames, feel free to use them if you really want to. Anyone else got any nickname stories?

Kokoro Daisuke. You'd be surprised at how many nicknames you can make out of that one. Over the past 3 or so years I've gone by the name, I've been called Dai-chan, Kokoroko, Kokoo, KD, KokoDai, Kokomo, Koko, Rokoko, K, Kokomoroko, and every other odd combination of the syllables KO-KO-RO you could probably think of

Although you guys can call me by my real name, Russell, if you want, "MelMak" works for me too. ^_^ In fact, I'd very much prefer either one over "Melody." *gives forgiving glance at those who thought he was a girl*

LOL...I get a lot of nicknames. In real life, most of the time, people call me Ash (short for my real name...Ashlee)... On the internet...most call me Swifty...short for Swiftblade (which is my most common online alias...) Then my best friend calls me a lot of things...(i.e. Lady Ninja...Fishy...Kenshin...) I used to also be called Mystery a lot...or Myst for short... (But that was a really long time ago..O.O)

But here...my name has already been shortened to Ninja...I believe. LOL. If I recall, at least one person has called me that. ^_^ So whichever you desire to call me...go ahead. (Except for Fishy...NO ONE else can call me Fishy. :P)

Oh...and in regards to the person who posted earlier...concerning the nickname Icky, given to them by their little sister...THAT IS SOOOOO ADORABLE!! How precious. ^_^

Hrmn...I have a bajillion nicknames in rl, but only a few on the internet, and only for some of my other screen names. (CAA is the only place I'm known as Aka-chan.) If anyone is so inclined, they may make one up, but whatever. ^__^

Oh, I didn't mention my real-life nicknames. I'm called Carrie (as in that's the name I go by); it's acutally a nickname for my real name Caressa. But anyway, people often call me Car (pronounced "care"), Carebear *shudders*, and sometimes my friends call me Carrot. O.o I don't have red hair, though.

I have no nicknames in real life. Everyone I know calls me either by my first name or my last name.

I suppose you can call me ...Mave or Mav? It can't get any shorter than that.

Apart from that, in real life, I'm called Mave (my friends), May (family and boyfriend) and May Ray (work colleagues). The May Ray name comes from a sitcom featuring Whoopi Goldberg, at least I've been told. I absolutely have no idea what they're talking about.

In real life I've been called many things. In fact, way too many to list here.

I think virtually everyone around here has already chopped the numbers off of my name, which is fine. ^_^ If anyone feels the need, they're entirely welcome to come up with an alternative.

In real life, I'm Evil Envy Green, stemming from saying I was envy green about someting and being evil. Or TwilightKiss calls me Tami-chan. My dad calls me G-money. I think he said it was from a movie. *shrugs* :eyeroll:

I have been curious regarding this for some time: what is the proper method of pronouncing your name? Considering only my area, I know several Lorentz families, and they use several different pronunciations.
