Irregular periods and heavy bleeding.

Postby c.t.,girl » Thu Mar 24, 2011 3:57 pm

So I've always had irregular periods...but now it's become a problem to where they've lasted to longer than 2 months. Last period I had, I had to be rushed to the ER and given 2 pints of blood. I'm on birth control to try to regulate them and I'm trying to remember to exercise more, but each time I start the end of the month pills, it gets super heavy and it'll last over a week an a half (althought that's a lot shorter than 2 months it's still a bit longer than one is comfortable with). They're also super painful now and I've never really had cramps since I was 9yrs old.

Anyway, this past Tuesday I went in for my first PAP and an endometrial biopsy. I haven't gotten any results (and don't know if I will get them), but since the biopsy, I haven't been able to stop bleeding and it's become heavier. All I'm asking for is prayer. I know that bleeding can happen for 3-5 days but...things are just a bit scary right now and...I dunno usually I can take things well...but this...is pretty scary. :/

All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. That kind of bleeding can be really serious. I know this would be a hard thing to consider at 23, but sometimes it can't be stopped any other way but hysterectomy. If it's to the point where you have to be transfused, I'd say that's serious enough to at least keep it in the back of your mind.

I'll be praying for you. Man, and to think I complain because I have really painful cramps. In least I have a normal-length periods and no heavy bleeding. I hope things get better for you, I really do.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Praying hard. While I've never had bleeding issues, I have ovulation issues that left me (before I went on BC- I love BC pills for this!) screaming in pain for 3-4 days, getting maybe 2 hours of sleep a night, not consecutively.

But if the BC isn't helping at this point, I'd say definitely talk to your gyno and keep the hyst. in mind. I have a friend who had ovarian cancer at 6 and had one- she's getting along just fine now (She's about 20). It's far better to have it out than have it cause your death.

:T yeah...the OBGYN was telling me that she thinks that i'm not ovulating and that's what was causing me to have irregular periods...but she's not ENTIRELY sure so that's why i had a paptest and the biopsy.

wow...age of 6...that's...wow...glad to know she's doing good.

Ovulating issues would definitely cause irregular periods, but I don't think that would cause the bleeding :( And yes, 6 is incredibly young for that. She had to have a total hysterectomy. But she's a survivor! :)

Hoping they figure out what's going on soon, though- I think I'd be scared about it, too.

Wow, and I thought I had it bad with my monthly, which usually lasts 7 days. I will be praying.

But like what shoo said, my friend had this problem, you definately need to get more insight by your gynecologist about this.

Actually, if one doesn't ovulate then the uterus lining could build up so much that it could cause extreme heavy bleeding or long periods. It could also cause cancer.

A week is normal. That's how long they're suppose to last. It's only worrisome if they're super heavy because that could mean that your lining is producing too much build up.

Wow...that's a little scary. For me I just have the intense intense pain, and heavy heavy bleeding but nothing to that extent. I still have to go in for screening anyways ... delaying that unpleasant visit.

Praying for you girl xxx if you can keep us updated *HUGS*

good luck with your screenings! make sure to look at a dot on the ceiling and keep breathing (if i'm correct on thinking it's like a paptest...WHICH IS TOTALLY UNPLEASANT :C and painful).

thanks i'll do my best to!

Well, there is the chance I have the chance of getting fibroids like my mother since we both have the same symptoms (Well, she has fibroids, I don't know yet), but I wouldn't really call it as severe an issue.

18 would be shockingly young for fibroids. Not that it doesn't or hasn't happened, but at your age anovulatory cycles or other hormonal issues would be more likely.

I'll look into it. I hope it is that rather than fibroids, since it runs in the family. Actually, neither would be better.

Ah. Well they've gotten heavier. I'm trying to find my doctor's number but I can't find the paper with her number on it...I also can't remember her name. :/
