What actors/actresses can interest you in movies that would otherwise probably not have your attention?

I have a lot of them, but right now the only ones that come to mind are Will Smith, Andrew Garfield, and Karl Urban. And Colin Firth. I watched What a Girl Wants because he was in it. Which was a poor choice.

No really, I could write a pretty long list.

On a side note, I have a theory that some actors write their own IMDb bios.

For me I would say, Jim Carrey, Clint Eastwood, and Dwayne Johnson - he can act pretty good for an ex-professional wrestler.

Oh, lots, I'm sure. XD For starters, Geoffrey Rush, Jason Schwartzman, Simon Pegg, Leo DiCaprio, Rainn Wilson, and Bill Murray. Also Lee Pace, excluding Marmaduke, which I will never see. XD Also Meryl Streep, Emily Mortimer, and occasionally Tom Hanks. XD

Directors also have a pretty big influence on which movies I'm more inclined to see, but there's my list of actors for now. XD

EDIT: I forgot Neil Patrick Harris. XD For shame. XD

And Michael Caine. XD Also there was a short time in my life where I was interested in any movie I knew of that actors from the LOTR trilogy were involved in. XD Not so much anymore, though I do love seeing Dominic Monaghan in just about anything. XD

Also 98% of the reason I went to see Tangled originally was because Zachary Levi was in it. So, there you go. XD

Sandra Bullock... and that is all. That is honestly the only person I can think of that would make me go see a movie. It doesn't matter how bad it is, if she's in it, I don't care. She's fun to watch anyway. Even now she's getting on in years she still looks super hot and she has the most amazing personality. I don't like RomComs or anything but I'll watch any comedy movie with Sandra Bullock in it at least once... When she's bumbling around on screen looking cute, sexy, and goofy... yeah, that's all I need.

Other than her... umm... Michelle Pfeiffer I suppose. She's not in a lot lately and I've seen a number of films I did not care with her in it. She doesn't make me grin like Sandra Bullock but I'd probably give any movie with her in it a chance at least once. She's at her best when she's playing sexy and mysterious with a dry sense of humor.

Umm... yeah. That is all for me...

EDIT: Oh yeah, Meryl Streep... I love watching her too. I'll give anything with her a chance for the most part too...

And a director has much more influence on me than actors usually too. I'll watch anything directed by James Cameron, Tim Burton, Danny Boyle... And then if I see a film I really like, I may go look and see what else the director has done and check those out... or if I think they may have potential, I just didn't care for whatever I was watching, I may check those out to give them more of a chance.

Geoffrey Rush, Jeremy Irons, Gary Oldman, Angus MacFayden, Monica Bellucci (or her hubby Vincent Cassell), David Bowie, Teresa Palmer, Mila Kunis, Toshiro Mifune.

But my #1 actor to go out of my way to see a movie in is Michael Wincott.

For me:
Will Smith (the only reason I rented Shark Tale. Ugh.)
Jack Nicholson (heck, he even made his worst movie, Wolf tolerable)
Jack Black (he can be pretty funny with the right script)

Helena Bonham Carter, Leonardo DiCaprio, Will Smith, Jim Carrey, Brad Pitt, Ellen Page, Reese Witherspoon, Tom Hanks, Nicole Kidman, Jackie Chan, Sandra Bullock, Rachel McAdams, Ken Watanabe... All very awesome actors or actresses.

The funny thing is though, I don't even watch movies that often. ^__^;

Ken Watanabe

Morgan Freeman
Christian Bale

I'm that way too, actually. ^^; If I recognize a name I may be more curious about a movie, but that doesn't guarantee I'll pursue it.

On a highly related note, YES to Neil Patrick Harris. The win is strong with that one.

Gee, how did I forget Sandra Bullock? Also, is it horrible that I enjoy Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughayhay movies, even though I know they'll be terrible? With Matthew Mchoweverthecrapyouspellit movies, I tend to imagine the MST3k guys doing impressions and general mockery as I watch.

I forgot to add that Nicholas Cage can get me to watch a movie pretty often. The whole reason I watched movies like Knowing, Ghost Rider, and Kick-a** was because of Nicholas Cage. It's like in every movie, he plays the most awesome character. Is it in his contract or something?

Will Smith and Harrison Ford - I feel like the last 138059 movies I've seen with one or the other in it have been terrible, but I still keep watching...

For me it's these lovely actors:

Johnny Depp
Will Smith
Nicholas Cage
Neil Patrick Harris
Robin Williams
Will Ferrell
Jack Black
Jim Carrey
Dwayne Johnson
Sandra Bullock
Morgen Freeman
Chris Rock
Hugh Jackman
Jackie Chan
Nicole Kidman
Julia Roberts
Anne Hathaway
Steve Martin
Gerald Butler
Steve Carell
Owen Wilson
George Lopez
Tom Hanks
Orlando Bloom
Keira Knightley
Meryl Streep
Brendan Fraser
Harry Connick Jr.
Harrison Ford
Clint Eastwood

And...I think that's it for now. Or all I can remember in least. Wow, that's actually a lot! Here I used to claim I didn't have any favorite actors.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I just realized I made a post somewhere up there talking about how I'd list directors who make me more inclined to see a film, and then I didn't. XD So I am now!

Wes Anderson (Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums)
Christopher Nolan (Inception, The Prestige)
Satoshi Kon (Paprika, Tokyo Godfathers)
Tarsem Singh (The Fall)
Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead)
Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours)
Terry Gilliam (Brazil, The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus)
Andrew Stanton (Wall-E)
Pete Docter (Up)
Brad Bird (The Iron Giant, The Incredibles)

I've likely forgotten a few, but there's the list for now. XD

Funny someone mentioned Will Ferrell; usually I run screaming from a movie if he's in it.

I like Tom Hanks though and typically anything he's in is worth a look (except maybe the DaVinci Code and its sequel; I wouldn't touch those with a ten-foot pole).

I really want to see more movies with Paul Newman and/or Robert Redford, and Clint Eastwood. I like Nicole Kidman but lately she's been in some movies that didn't really look interesting to me, so I haven't seen her in anything in a long time.

Also I will totally watch anything directed by Eastwood, Brad Bird or Christopher Nolan. There was a time when I'd watch anything by Quentin Tarantino or Tim Burton, but those days are over.

Looks like a whole lotta fun. And Harrison Ford in a supporting role? When was the last time he did that in a major film...Apocalypse Now?? Can't wait...

I saw The DaVinci Code when it first game out, haven't see the sequel yet. It was actually pretty good, but I could understand why most Christians wouldn't want to watch it or don't like it.

I remember watching both of those a while back. I thought Angels and Demons was better (and I liked it), and naturally I saw that one first. XD The DaVini Code just didn't seem as well tied-together, I guess. Kinda bizarre in some ways, if I remember correctly.

At the time I could only think of describing The DaVinci Code as a fanfiction for the Bible. XD;

I generally see movies based more on the premise or visuals or characters rather than specific actors or actresses. There are several exceptions though. The only one I can think of at the moment that I consistently make an effort to see is Christian Bale. I'll watch almost anything with him in it (I have many more favourite actors and actresses but don't enjoy or endeavour to watch everything they do). As for studios/directors, I'll watch anything by Pixar and Studio Ghibli, anything by Jean-Pierre Jeunet and anything by Christopher Nolan.

I find Will Ferrell annoying, rude and immature but I loved Stranger Than Fiction.
