Gosick?

Postby Shao Feng-Li » Thu Feb 17, 2011 1:44 pm

I've been watching Gosick on Crunchyroll, and man it's pretty good. I was concerned at first, with the main character in a generic goth dress and all, but it's interesting and funny. The next episode comes out tomorrow; I can't wait :D

Gosick is awesome. I need to watch the new episodes (though since the mysteries seem to come in arcs I won't feel too behind unless I miss a whole arc).

Well, there seems to be only 6 episodes available anyway, so catching up is easy :D

Though the mysterious themselves aren't too special (but certainly unintentionally entertaining), I enjoy seeing the two leads play off of one another. I am interested to see where they take those characters, so I'll keep watching for a while yet.

Great show. It's shining light in a sea of mediocrity.

Victorique is just about the only interesting thing in the show and the OP is the only interesting thing in the show from a production standpoint, which is incredibly disappointing given Bones' track record.

I mentioned in another thread that I find a strong similarity between GOSICK and Bungaku Shoujo for whatever reason (relatively normal guy finds eccentric girl and they solve mysteries). I feel like Bungaku Shoujo does both mysteries and characters much, much better, and for the anime, even the production was better. That said, I'll concede that I might enjoy the GOSICK novels more than the anime if it gets in the head of the characters more, but for now, it's been pretty disappointing.

The Queen Berry novel was actually somewhat difficult to adapt given a large portion of it was told in flashbacks...and this doesn't really work in a visual medium where you can see the characters. Some of the mysteries have been more simplified given the fast pace it's being adapted at as well.

The animation production seems fine to me.

Anyway, I'm liking it. I'm interested in seeing what the later stories are, since it's unlikely I'll ever get a chance to read them...at least, not anytime soon.

Lucky for me then, I haven't seen Bungaku Shojo. Not to mention, it's one of two animes that I've watched in a very long time.

:red:That explains everything. If I had seen that other show I would probably think the same way. This anime seems refreshing to me compared to other shows lately. It's the first show in a long time that made me want others to see it.

Yeah, I've been hearing a lot of this kind of thing, which leads me to think that I'd enjoy the novels a lot more.

I'm currently watching and enjoying it! For a bratty girl, Victorique sure is cute! She and Kujo make a cute couple.

I've never before heard of Gosick but I looked up the basic premise and it sounds like a very interesting series.

^ It had been pretty talked about in the Winter 2011 thread. I do highly recommend it- it's pretty good. Not anywhere near my Top 10, but good.

Hm

Postby Koimeteria » Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:02 pm

I get that everyone is really liking it as a show and I really would like to see it too, but I'm curious about the content. I mean are there occult issues, nudity, profane language, etc up to this point in your viewing?
